The Etihad Museum has been a very prestigious landmark in the UAE since its inspection and tells the story of the 1971 Union Agreement through the eyes of the Founding Fathers. The museum honours the Founding Fathers dedication, commitment and patriotism by showcasing their achievements and some of their private collections while inviting individuals from all walks of life to follow their shining example in everyday life.
The museum’s story begins with the Founding Fathers display, which features majestic portraits of the seven rulers of the emirates: Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi; Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai; Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Ruler of Sharjah; Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman; Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Mualla, Ruler of Umm Al-Quwain; Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Ruler of Ras Al-Khaimah; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah.

With the recent acquisition of Souq.com by online giant Amazon and the anticipated launch of the new local ecommerce site Noon.com, the shift to online shopping in the GCC has become more apparent than ever. A recent study from YouGov has found that 83% of Local GCC Millennials have shopped online in the past 6 Months, with 42% shopping on local websites and 41% on international sites.
The research found that the most likely items to be purchased online by GCC millennials are mobile phones (20%) and computer software/hardware (20%), followed by electronic equipment (19%), games (17%) and e-books (13%). The least likely items to be purchased online are flowers (3%), pet related products (3%), music (4%), sporting goods (6%), hardcopy books (6%) and health products (7%).
In anticipation of World Emoji Day, and the upcoming worldwide release of “The Emoji Movie,” emoji fans around the world celebrated by setting the world’s first Guinness World Records™ title for the Largest gathering of people dressed as emoji faces simultaneously across multiple venues. Spanning three continents, the record saw emoji faces inspired by the film’s characters turn up in Dubai, Moscow, London, Dublin, and Sao Paulo, as hundreds of fans dressed as the winningly expressive characters. Additional countries showed enthusiastic support by echoing the effort, with their own emojis participating in similarly themed celebrations; it is estimated that more than 1,000 emojis not associated with the record were in the mix throughout Europe, Asia and South America.
