Dubai has a seriously diverse food scene, and is home to almost every popular cuisine in the world, so it is natural that people have acquired a more adventurous and sophisticated palette. Recently heralded as the number 1 ‘foody city’ Bangkok, the team at Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay couldn’t resist the opportunity to bring in the best of this gourmet wonderland to Dubai’s already bubbling flavour pot!
Décor-wise, The Backyard could easily be found down a Bangkok ‘soi’ and is the perfect canvas for the colourful vibe of Thailand’s street food, with a deliciously crafted menu from an immensely creative and talented Chef.
Born and raised in Thailand, Chef Anan Tumya began his culinary journey with food art and sculpting, and continued his journey adding insanely delicious flavours to his art. Being daring with the taste is Anan’s biggest strength, and on many occasions diners have been overheard saying that they have never come across such unique combinations anywhere in Thailand.
Starting his career in Thailand in 2003, Anan’s skills and quietly vivacious personality took him overseas to Malaysia, China, Goa, India, Muscat, The Maldives and finally Dubai. In fifteen years, Anan has won hearts and raked in a host of awards and accolades, including the recent Platinum and Diamond Award at ‘The Art of Thai Culinary 2017’ and a special acknowledgment from the Royal Thai Consulate-General Dubai. One of his numerous recent achievements has been the opening of Wise Kwai Restaurant in Dubai. Within just a few months, he brought it to the coveted Number #1 spot on TripAdvisor for best Thai restaurant in Dubai, beating 9,101 others.
Diana Haddad, a television personality and one of the most popular pop singers in the Arab World, visited Emirates Hospital, a subsidiary of Emirates Healthcare. She was welcomed by Michael Brenden Davis, COO of NMC Healthcare, Dr Yehia El Gabbani, Hospital Director of Emirates Hospital and Dr Maan Jamal, Medical Director of Emirates Hospital, as well as doctors, nurses and support staff.
Haddad brightened the day of patients by signing autographs and then took a tour of the state-of-the-art facilities, which included: obstetrics, paediatrics, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), special care baby unit (SCBU), a radiology department, and the emergency department.
“I had an amazing day at Emirates Hospital. Meeting real heroes like the doctors, nurses and support staff, made me feel inspired, blessed and touched. It is always a joy to visit fans and I wanted to thank every patient that I met today. You are all in my heart,” said Diana Haddad.
A journey through culture is depicted through meticulously created paintings in the new ‘Al
Wafi’ collection, which will be displayed at WAFI this month. Through the language of art,
Sheikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Maktoum demonstrates a unique interpretation of the rich history
and heritage of the UAE.
On 18th February, VIP guests will be invited to view a collection of new, exclusive creations and
witness the unveiling of one special, prime piece. Following this, and until 24 February, the
exhibition will be open to the public, with visitors at WAFI able to enjoy this exceptional
collection which depicts the beauty of the UAE.
The exhibition features paintings from different themes, inspired by the elements of daily life
such as the bond between a family, scenic views and special occasions. The ‘Al Wafi’ exhibition
will be open to the public during mall opening hours, giving visitors the chance to appreciate
the story of each piece displayed.
