Can anyone tell me about the quality of teaching at this?  place??  Do you know the address in Dubai?

Uncategorized
1. This offer to teach in Dubai appears to be a scam. They make money by conning teachers to pay $320 for their work permits. The web address of the UAE Immigration Office does not even have a “.ae” domain.

Global Recruiters, Zafirah Language Institute, and the site given for UAE immigration all have a “.tk” country domain. If you notice, they all display advertisements, which is a requirement for use of this free URL, at the top of the page. What self-respecting, filthy-rich Emirate would use such a service.

This is a scam. If you don’t think so, then proceed so long as you don’t take money out of your pocket.

2. The PNP are interested in knowing if any Filipino citizen responded to these people or lost money trying to obtain job through Global Recruiters.

Either contact PNP directly or put a comment here with your email address.

3. I was given an offer and can not access the web site.
Does a work visa for the AEU actually cost $320?
How can one check this out?
Thanks

4. I also got an offer from Zafirah Language Institute. Was really happy about finding a job but it does seem a bit suss and am currently trying to find out more about the company etc. Definately not sending any money though since they’re asking it to be sent via Western Union (??). Very strange. Would appreciate hearing from others who might know more about this. Cheers!

5. i also just received an email from zafirah….very dodgy by the sounds of things.

But is GLOBALRECRUITERS a legitimate company???

I would love to work in Dubai or anywhere in the Middle East. Does anyone know a good place to find legitimate work???

6. Hi everyone,

I was offered an ESL teaching job through Global Recruiters for apparently $4400 USD. I was excited but then I found out that Global Recruiters and Zafirah Language Institute are non-existent.
I paid $320 US for an employment visa and I feel very foolish now.
They scanned me a false visa document.
First of all, it doesn’t cost that much. Second of all, I received an email
asking for a further $958 USD. At that point, I knew definitely it was a scam. BEWARE EVERYONE!

S.C.

7. What the hell?!
I was so excited as well. Thank you so much S.C for posting that. I was just about to do the same right now but thought it seemed too good to be true since they offered me the contract of employment without even having called me for a phone interview or to verify my information!
Same deal, with Global Recruiters and Zafirah Language institute…4400$ plus airfare, accomodation, etc.

8. I believed them and I paid too much money my friends. They are not REAL!!!. I do not know what to say because I feel like an idiot. Please someone can tell me where do they live?

9. Hi guys

Even i have been offered the same but they haven’t asked for any money as of yet.
attached is the email received.

10. The people who are in same situation like me should do something. I know I lost the money and I feel like an idiot but we have to co-operate and punish. What do you think?

11. I have emailed ESL Jobs world informing them about the problem. They kindly responded:
“Thank you very much for letting me know about this. I’ve been keeping
an eagle eye out for anything even remotely smelling of a Nigerian
scam, but this is a new one for me.

I’ve deleted the job you mentioned and disabled the user account.
I’ll also now know to keep on the lookout for any registrations
referencing the .tk domain in the future.

Thanks again,

ESL Jobs World

I hope this will help…

12. Once I called the number of Global Recruiters and a man answered. His voice like a nigerian. Actually he was nigerian. He didn`t talk to much because he said that I have work to do and we talk later. After that I couldn`t reach him at all.

So what is next? How will we learn what will happen to them? I am really looking forward to see them punished because they deserve that. Who can help us to know more about them?

13. I do hope that those ESL teachers out there check in w/ Dave’s ESLCafe (www.eslcafe.com) from time to time in order to better understand the value of their credentials and experience (or lack thereof). This company has been pulling the scam for a while now. Anyone who spent 15 minutes on Dave’s boards would know that even if they had an MA TESOL and/or valid teaching qualification from the US/UK/Ireland/Canada/New Zealand/etc. that they couldn’t possibly earn the salary promised by this recruiter w/o many years of experience. Knowledge is your best defense when it comes to scams like this.

14. OMG, I just can’t believe what I’m reading!!?

I have had the same – I applied for a job through Global Recruiters.. my story is the same basically!!
I got the same letter as the people above – I feel very annoyed!!

How can they get away with this?? Surely, they can get into trouble for this???

And I saw the ad off the tefl.net site!!? I thought at least that was a trusted site.. Oh well, back to the drawing board!

Be careful fellow english tutors

15. I was about to fall in the same trap. Thanks a lot to all of you. The link:http://www.zafirahlanguageinstitutes.tk/ which is provided by this company is a fake one because it takes you to the Arabic official website of the Ministry of Education in The UAE: http://www.moe.gov.ae/. Moreover, not a single piece of information about this zafirah language institute is mentioned on the website itself. In addition, nothing is mentioned about them on the internet except that it is a scam.

16. I’m the original poster of this thread and hoped that no one would get scammed by the scam Global Recruiting and scam Zafirah Langague Institute.

For those of you who want to do something, I suggest posting a rant in the rants and raves section of your local http://www.Craigslist.org. Take the following steps:

1) post on message boards (such as craigslist) and use the word scam close to Zafirah Language Institute, Global Recruiters, and UAE Immigration. This will alert people when they google the scam Zafirah Language Institute and the scam Global Recruiters.

2) Include a link to this thread or any other message board thread that has the warning of this scam. This will improve google’s ranking of this page and push the link to the top of the page.

I had posted several times in craigslist’s Dubai’s Rants and Raves board, but the scam Global Recruiters and scam Zafirah language Institute kept removing my posts removed by pressing “the violates craigslist’s terms” button several times. I wised up and posted under different titles on Rants and Raves.

Perform a service for your fellow teacher, spread the word, and shut down the scam Zafirah Language Institute and scam Global Recruiters.

17. I was also in the same situation.
I did not pay, but I was about to…
I will definitely spread the word and try to let people know, thank you.

18. i have the same story as mention above there is nothing like zafira institue i asked my uncle living in dubia he said there noting like that.
so beeeee aware
khan

19. I got the same offer from my old university alum net so I thought it was reliable. It paid over twice ($4400 USD) as much as I am making now

So I resigned from this good paying job here in China and bought a plane ticket back to the States. Then after hearing it was a scam I tried to get my job back, but I had already been replaced.

But thanks for the heads up. I hadn’t yet paid the visa fees for my nine-year-old son and myself. Oh well, I can always get another ESL job, but I guess it really was too good to be true.

20. Hi guys,

I got the exact same email from Zafirah….im just glad that i did not pay any money akk your comments have confirmed my suspisions,

thanx
extremely dissapointed.

J

21. GOD! I was ALMOST a victim as well! I had the same experience with the guys and gals who posted their comments. I already asked for a verification for the authenticity of the documents sent to the different department heads of my government. But, I’m really glad that I made a research ’bout them first. Really happy to know this informations. Other ESL tutors be vigilant and BEWARE of this GLOBAL RECRUITERS and ZAFIRAH LANGUAGE INSTITUTES. They victimize innocent and decent individuals looking for decent jobs for their future. WHAT A SHAME!!!

22. Brother. Scam artists have whacked the UAE ministry of labour site. I’ll try to let them know. Maybe they’ll investigate.
Check out the legitimate site:
http://www.mol.gov.ae

And the scam artists site:
http://www.uaeministryoflabour.tk/

Notice how the favicon in the address bar changes from the UAE icon to the TK icon.

It’s not that hard to accomplish actually. They went to
http://www.dot.tk/en/index.html?lang=en
and entered the MOL domain name to use the dot tk to point to it. One would hope that the UAE government might be concerned that this has been done.

There are no jobs available on the MOL site. But it does give the job vacancy ad an appearance of credibility. I imagine a person none the wiser would feel confident enough to contact the Email address posted alongside the ad which uses the dot tk pointer (that brings up the real MOL site).

From another ESL job site (which has been contacted and alerted to the scam) is this contact:
INFO@UAEMINISTRYOFLABOUR.TK
.tk is not a UAE government Email address suffix!!!!
If you have time, please send them a terse Email filled with colorful expletives.
Do not send these guys any information. Ignore their ad.

23. I got the exact same email from Zafirah….im just glad that i did not pay any money . now today morning they have sent mail. read the below mail.

Dear Visa Applicant,
This is to remind you that your visa/work permit is ready for collections.
