{"id":1199,"date":"2015-02-01T11:21:59","date_gmt":"2015-02-01T11:21:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.dubaicityguide.com\/site\/?p=1199"},"modified":"2015-02-01T11:21:59","modified_gmt":"2015-02-01T11:21:59","slug":"flying-in-his-mothers-footsteps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.dubaicityguide.com\/site\/flying-in-his-mothers-footsteps\/","title":{"rendered":"Flying In His Mother&#8217;s Footsteps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>They say the apple doesn\u2019t fall far from the tree, and that expression could not ring truer for mother and son, Sue Abdul and Karim Hollosi, who have both served as Emirates cabin crew, two decades apart.<\/p>\n<p>Recruited in Dubai, after walking into the operations center while on holiday, Sue reminisces about her time as cabin crew: \u201cIn 1994, we were about 500 cabin crew with this new airline, Emirates. And now Karim\u2019s experience is such a contrast to mine <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.dubaicityguide.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/emirates-5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1200\" alt=\"emirates--5\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.dubaicityguide.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/emirates-5-1024x683.jpg\" width=\"625\" height=\"416\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.dubaicityguide.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/emirates-5-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.dubaicityguide.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/emirates-5-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.dubaicityguide.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/emirates-5-624x416.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0he travels to exotiic destinations, with colleagues from around the world, and lives in a Dubai that is very different from the city that I knew.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Karim joined the Emirates\u2019 Cabin Crew team in June 2014. For Karim, the love of flying was in his genes. \u201cBoth my parents are passionate about flying so is a bit unsurprising that I find it in my destiny as well.\u00a0 From the stories I heard growing up, Emirates grew to be a natural choice for me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Sue says it was evident from a young age that he just might follow in her footsteps: \u201cI was recently cleaning up and I found all of Karim\u2019s old notebooks from when he was a kid. Each one of them had something about Emirates and little airplanes drawn on them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a surprise visit to Dubai to attend Karim&#8217;s cabin crew graduation ceremony, Sue\u00a0says it was an emotional moment\u00a0that left her feeling proud. \u201cAfter 20 years, I look back on those days with affection and nostalgia, and I am happy and feel reassured to know that Karim is going to have a great future here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Recruited from over 135 countries and speaking more than 55 languages, Emirates is proud of the service delivered by its cabin crew.
