Renowned Dubai-based artist, Sylvain Tremblay, has donated another of his original works to raise funds for a good cause, this time in support of family charity, Children’s Wish Foundation.<\/p>\n

The painting \u2018L\u2019arbre Famille\u2019 (Family Tree) depicts the abstract image of a family seated within a mature, flourishing tree, and was inspired by Children’s Wish Foundation, which works to grant the wishes of children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the artist in residence and visiting lecturer at Canadian University Dubai saw another of his paintings, Blue Horse, bought by the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, at a London charity auction organized to raise funds for sustainable water projects overseas.<\/p>\n

His latest work of art was among a number of lots that raised almost $300,000 at the Children’s Wish Foundation annual charity golf tournament. Since its establishment in 1984, the Foundation has granted 22,000 wishes, creating moments of joy for children living with high risk conditions, while providing respite to their families and carers.<\/p>\n

In keeping with Tremblay\u2019s distinctive style that uses textures as well as colours to create a truly unique piece, the painting went through three stages of production, with the Dubai weather delivering an added challenge to the process.<\/p>\n

Tremblay explained, \u201cThe first stage is to develop the outline images and textures with a special form of plaster. However, the plaster must thoroughly dry out before the paint and varnish are applied, and the high humidity can make this a difficult process.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tremblay\u2019s recent donations add to the dozens of paintings he has put up for charity auctions throughout his artistic career. He says, \u201cI think it\u2019s important to try to give back to society, in whatever way we can, and I feel lucky that I\u2019m able to do that through my art.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
