The UAE’s best indoor skydivers will take to the air for\u00a0the second annual SandStorm Scrambles event when Inflight Dubai hosts\u00a0the two-class competition on Friday (February 19).<\/div>\n

To be staged in the world’s tallest and largest tunnel for indoor\u00a0flying, the competition is open to flyers of all abilities with the\u00a0added twist that teams are scrambled from the individual entrants\u00a0with two and four-person teams put together by Inflight Dubai’s Team\u00a0Skynamic in order to represent a spread of ability.<\/p>\n

Entries are set to close tonight (Wednesday) as Inflight Dubai counts\u00a0down to an event that comes less than three months after the\u00a0hugely-successful Clash of Champions, which featured over 300\u00a0skydivers from around the world.<\/p>\n

SandStorm is primarily for locally-based skydivers and is a very\u00a0popular social event as well as a sporting competition, said Meet\u00a0Director Ricardo Del Castillo. The competition will showcase awesome\u00a0flying, big-money prizes and a great party atmosphere with entry free\u00a0of charge to the public.\u009d<\/p>\n

Entrants will be scrambled into 2-Way and 4-Way Dynamic teams with\u00a0the 4-Way teams each featuring a team leader from Team Skynamic or\u00a0<\/span>another suitably experienced and qualified flyer.<\/p>\n

Flyers can still enter the competition by visiting\u00a0www.inflightdubai.com<\/a> with an entry fee of AED300 per flyer for each\u00a0category. Featuring a total of AED 60,000 in prize-money, competitors\u00a0will be competing for a first prize of AED 16,000 in the 4-Way event\u00a0and AED 8,000 in the 2-Way category.<\/p>\n

And while there will be prizes for the top three teams in each\u00a0category, spectators can also join in on the fun with iPhones on offer\u00a0to two lucky fans – spectators can attend free of charge and will be\u00a0able to watch the action unfold from the Inflight Dubai Observation\u00a0Deck.<\/p>\n

The competition stars at 6.30pm on Friday (February 19). For both\u00a0dynamic disciplines there will be a non-scoring warm-up round, four\u00a0unique dynamic speed rounds and a mystery final round. The five scores\u00a0of each round will be added together to determine the final placing.<\/p>\n

Many people are still unaware of the skill, fitness and co-ordination\u00a0involved in tunnel flying, added Del Castillo. Last year’s SandStorm\u00a0was very popular with both competitors and spectators alike and we\u00a0hope more people will come along to the Inflight Dubai facilities to<\/p>\n
