Opera Gallery Dubai, part of the internationally\u00a0renowned Opera Gallery network, presents the exclusive \u201cCalligrafuturism – Chapter 1.0\u201d\u00a0gallery show by Pokras Lampas. Commencing with an opening night not to be missed\u00a0on Tuesday 6th December, the exhibition is set to impress in a unique celebration of\u00a0Opera Gallery Dubai\u2019s exclusive representation of this progressive artist within the\u00a0region.<\/p>\n

As one of the most distinguished modern calligraphy artists in the world, the inaugural
\ncollaboration between Pokras Lampas and Opera Gallery Dubai is set to be absolutely
\nmonumental, with the opening night epitomising his unique approach to calligraphy and
\nthe perfect execution of his work. Following the opening night, Pokras\u2019 most creative,
\ninventive and edgy masterpieces, created as part of the first solo show in the region; will
\nbe displayed in Opera Gallery Dubai up until December 20th, 2016.<\/p>\n

Pokras is a Russian born artist who began his career creating graffiti in 2008. Soon after
\nbeing inspired by Niels “Shoe” Meulman’s movement \u201cCalligraffiti”, he turned his focus
\nonto street calligraphy. Later, Pokras was invited by Niels to become an official
\nCalligraffiti Ambassador and has since been working on the self-developed style
\n\u201cCalligrafuturism\u201d which will be exclusively showcased at the upcoming Opera Gallery
\nDubai exhibition.<\/p>\n

His work and technique as an artist has rapidly progressed and evolved into what is
\nconsidered to be the most sophisticated form of \u201cCalligraffiti\u201d and he has since been in
\nhigh demand for artistic and corporate projects, as well as being commissioned by some
\nof today\u2019s biggest private art patrons in the world. Most notably, he has achieved
\nexceptional feats such as setting the World Record for the biggest calligraphy work,
\nproudly adorning a rooftop in Moscow which is visible on Google Earth.
\nPokras is actively experimenting with different directions of modern calligraphy by
\napplying and combining his knowledge of street culture, design and typography of
\ndifferent nations and ages. What is most striking about Pokras as an artist is his
\nrelentless ability to push the boundaries of calligraphy further than anybody ever has.
\nWhether it be in a different alphabet, the use of colors, mediums, instruments or texture;
\nPokras displays incredible maturity and curiosity. All of his passion and technique have
\nbeen translated onto twenty captivating canvases, unveiled on the occasion of this solo
\nshow aptly titled \u201cCalligrafuturism – Chapter 1.0\u201d<\/p>\n
