Armed with a clear vision and a brazen 78-page plan, Richard Williams is determined to write his daughters, Venus and Serena, into history. Training on Compton, California\u2019s neglected tennis courts\u2014rain or shine\u2014the girls are shaped by their father\u2019s unyielding commitment and their mother\u2019s balanced perspective and keen intuition, defying the seemingly insurmountable odds and prevailing expectations laid before them.<\/p>\n

Aunjanue Ellis (\u201cIf Beale Street Could Talk,\u201d \u201cLovecraft Country\u201d) plays the girls\u2019 mom, Oracene \u201cBrandy\u201d Williams, Saniyya Sidney (\u201cHidden Figures,\u201d \u201cFences\u201d) stars as Venus Williams, Demi Singleton (TV\u2019s \u201cGodfather of Harlem\u201d) stars as Serena Williams, with Tony Goldwyn (the \u201cDivergent\u201d series, TV\u2019s \u201cScandal\u201d) as coach Paul Cohen and Jon Bernthal (\u201cThe Many Saints of Newark,\u201d \u201cFord v Ferrari\u201d) as coach Rick Macci.\u00a0 The ensemble also includes Andy Bean (\u201cIT Chapter Two\u201d), Kevin Dunn (the \u201cTransformers\u201d films, HBO\u2019s \u201cVeep\u201d) and Craig Tate (\u201cGreyhound\u201d).<\/p>\n

Green directed \u201cKing Richard\u201d from a screenplay written by Zach Baylin.\u00a0 The producers were Tim White and Trevor White under their Star Thrower Entertainment banner, and Will Smith under his Westbrook banner.\u00a0 Isha Price, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett Smith, Adam Merims, Lynn Harris, Allan Mandelbaum, Jon Mone and Peter Dodd served as the executive producers.<\/p>\n
