{"id":44968,"date":"2021-11-29T09:56:46","date_gmt":"2021-11-29T05:56:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.dubaicityguide.com\/site\/?p=44968"},"modified":"2021-11-29T09:56:46","modified_gmt":"2021-11-29T05:56:46","slug":"competition-heats-up-in-spinneys-dubai-92-cycle-challenge-as-cyclists-complete-saturdays-45km-build-up-ride","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.dubaicityguide.com\/site\/competition-heats-up-in-spinneys-dubai-92-cycle-challenge-as-cyclists-complete-saturdays-45km-build-up-ride\/","title":{"rendered":"Competition Heats Up In Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge As Cyclists Complete Saturday&#8217;s 45km Build-Up Ride"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In partnership with Dubai Sports Council, this weekend saw more than600 cyclists take on the second Build-Up Ride for the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge,as athletes continued their preparations for this year\u2019s main challenge with a 45km ride on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Through constant sunshine at Al Qudra track, cyclists powered through the 45km ride at blistering speeds of over 40km\/h as the ride saw some strong performances from across the peloton.<\/p>\n<p>In the second round of this year\u2019s Build-Up Rides, Borja Sanzfrom Spain, and Lorraine Mullarkey from Ireland took first place in Saturday\u2019s ride. Sanzcompleting the course in just over one hour, with a time of 1:00:41 took home first in the men\u2019s category, whileMullarkeyfinished top of the peloton in a competitive women\u2019s field, as she crossed the line in 1:02:12.<\/p>\n<p>Following Saturday\u2019s ride, Borja Sanzwill wear the coveted leader\u2019s jerseyin the male field in the next Build-Up Ride on 18<sup>th<\/sup> December in the preliminary standings. With a strong performance on Saturday, Babita Khatri is the new leader in the female field, taking the yellow jersey into Build-Up Ride Three as the competition heats up moving through the DUBAI BIG 5 competition in this year\u2019s Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge on 18<sup>th<\/sup> February.<\/p>\n<p>There are two remaining Build-Up Rides in this year\u2019s Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge, with the 66km course on December 18<sup>th<\/sup> followed by the final Build-Up Ride of 85km on 22<sup>nd<\/sup> January 2022 before the main challenge in February.<\/p>\n<p>BUR 3: 66km on 18 December 2021<\/p>\n<p>BUR 4: 85km on 22 January 2022<\/p>\n<p>Cyclists this weekend were also able to get an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/s\/lh8ydm5qav9aj9x\/SPINNEYS%20DUBAI%2092%20CYCLE%20CHALLENGE%2016-9%20V2.mp4?dl=0\">exclusive look\u00a0<\/a>at the Spinney\u2019s Eat Well Live Well Athlete Village, as competitors enjoyed healthy treats to aid in their post-race recovery and took home from the village insightful tips on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Held in partnership with Dubai Sports Council, Spinneys and Dubai 92, the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge is one of the Middle East\u2019s premium sporting races, regularly attracting thousands of riders from all over the world. Ideal for first-time racers<br \/>\nor those with little cycling experience, a short course ride has also been reintroduced for 2022, along with a much-elevated post-event race village and hospitality experience for the riders, their friends, and family to enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>The organisers will ensure that the necessary precautions are in place at all Build-Up Rides and the main event to ensure public wellness and a COVID-19 safe environment.
