{"id":48335,"date":"2022-03-15T17:00:30","date_gmt":"2022-03-15T13:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.dubaicityguide.com\/site\/?p=48335"},"modified":"2022-03-15T17:00:30","modified_gmt":"2022-03-15T13:00:30","slug":"emerging-artists-in-the-spotlight-as-world-art-dubai-prepares-to-open-its-doors-tomorrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.dubaicityguide.com\/site\/emerging-artists-in-the-spotlight-as-world-art-dubai-prepares-to-open-its-doors-tomorrow\/","title":{"rendered":"Emerging Artists In The Spotlight As World Art Dubai Prepares To Open Its Doors Tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The local and international art communities are gearing up for the return of World Art Dubai, as established and emerging artists prepare to step into the spotlight at the Middle East\u2019s largest affordable contemporary retail art fair.<\/p>\n<p>Running from 16<sup>th<\/sup> to 19<sup>th<\/sup> March, the eighth edition of the show will open its doors on Wednesday to visitors from around the world keen to browse more than 4,000 pieces from across300 galleries and artists hailing from more than 50 countries.<\/p>\n<p>World Art Dubai this year runs under the theme \u2018Unplug Yourself\u2019, which aims to encourage inspired thinking and is supported by Dubai Culture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorld Art Dubai prides itself on its capabilities as a platform for emerging artists,\u201d said Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President \u2013 Dubai World Trade Centre. \u201cOur show is the ideal space for artists that are just beginning in the industry to make a name for themselves and introduce their work to a worldwide audience. A key date on Dubai\u2019scultural calendar, World Art Dubai is attractive to all, from collectors to first-time buyers, and continues to go from strength to strength.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Emerging artists to catch during the show include Gesere, the artist with works that are predominantly abstract, inspired by landscapes, internal images that surface from the unconscious, Kory Akhavan, the Dubai-based artist who will be displaying his canvas, digital art, and mixed media works; and Linda Emiligy who returns to World Art Dubai for the third time to display her abstract impressionism work inspired by female problems and emotions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorld Art Dubai is a meaningful opportunity for emerging artists like me to exhibit, to be heard, to represent your mind and sell artworks as well. It is a great chance to expand network with local and global artists from all around the world,\u201d said MeruyertShakeyeva, an emerging artist who will be presenting acrylic on canvas. \u201cAll my paintings that I have been working on are exclusively for World Art Dubai 2022, and it is my first time exhibiting\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The award-winning artist, Ali Asi will also be flying in from Lebanon to exhibit within the emerging sector, displaying his oil and acrylic on canvas pieces exclusively at World Art Dubai this year; Florian Kriechbaumerwill bring 14 pieces from hisTimeblend Dubai series, which sits at an intersection between art, photography, and technology; while16-year-old Amal Mirajkar, the canvas artist who made waves when she sold 13 pieces at last year\u2019s show, returns.<\/p>\n<p>Ali Asi said: \u201cMy artworks are unique and creative\u2013 some of them are abstract, others are surrealism. In addition there is a portrait made in impressionism style, but the most unique are my five paintings talking about the Emirates and Arab culture, these are made especially for World Art Dubai.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other artists marking a return to World Art Dubai include Purva Grover, who made history at last year\u2019s show when she become the first author to bridge the gap between words and arts at the fair; BabitaSatpati, from India, will be displaying her perspective of Andaman Island; and Rania Abouhashem brings with hera hero painting,entitled\u00a0<em>Hope<\/em>, that depicts a popular UAE beach.<\/p>\n<p>World Art Dubai will also welcome a number of debut artists this week. Samar JashanSatamian focuses on the dialogue between the figurative and expressive abstract,Seyed Soroush Mousaviyan who will display their interactive tiling board; while the photography of Osama Elolemybeautifully depicts African and Middle Eastern cultures.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors can enjoy an array of exciting activations, including the expanded Urban Art DXB area that is this year being curated for the first time by Ahmed Al Rashid, the popular Kuwaiti street artist and art director.It will feature graffiti battles on life-size mannequins, a voguing dance floor, and a make-up artist contest.<\/p>\n<p>There will also be dedicated areas of the show for sculptures, an Instagram Corner where visitors can become part of the art in an incredible display, and World Art Dubai\u2019s first NFT digital artworks. The event will also feature a number of artistic displays, engaging art talks, and workshops that visitors can get involved in throughout the four-day fair.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>INFO:<\/em><\/strong><em> World Art Dubai will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Halls 1-3 from March16-19, 2022 between 1-9pm each day except Saturday, which runs until 8pm. Tickets cost AED 20 for adults, AED 10 for children, with family packages also available.
