Dubai<\/a> Municipality has kicked off today April 29, its Health and Safety week\u00a0event\u00a0on Monday,\u00a0April 29, in conjunction with the World Workplace Health and Safety Day,\u00a0which\u00a0is celebrated\u00a0on\u00a0April 28\u00a0each year. With exeptional active participation of both government and private entities, to promote best practices and exchange experiences in the field of health, safety and prevention of accidents and illnesses\u00a0to ensure a safe working environment for all.<\/p>\n

Dubai Municipality continuously reviews its occupational health and safety programs to develop innovative solutions and\u00a0ensure compliance with global health and safety\u00a0standards,\u00a0as well as the unique requirements in this region. The Municipality remains steadfast in its commitment to\u00a0ensuring\u00a0the highest standards of\u00a0operations,\u00a0and proactive protection of public\u00a0health,\u00a0while promoting the broader goals of achieving resilience, institutional flexibility, and environmental preservation.<\/p>\n

Currently,\u00a0the Municipality is spearheading public safety through initiatives such as the Occupational Health and Safety Control Program, and the Environmental Health Control Program in the Emirate of Dubai.\u00a0It also includes a specialized division for Health and Safety Management in Labor Buildings,\u00a0which\u00a0aims\u00a0to minimize the negative impact of climate change\u00a0as\u00a0well as\u00a0an integrated program for health and safety awareness\u00a0encompassing action plans and field campaigns\u00a0which utilise\u00a0multilingual social media presence.<\/p>\n

Dr. Naseem Rafie, Naseem Rafie, Acting CEO of the Health and Safety Department at Dubai Municipality<\/strong>,\u00a0stated that the weeklong event\u00a0will\u00a0provide a venue to showcase ongoing efforts in developing an integrated preventive system encompassing occupational health and safety\u00a0frameworks,\u00a0to ensure compliance for all employees.<\/p>\n

She further explained that occupational safety and health management systems are preventive\u00a0systems,\u00a0which can facilitate comprehensive mechanisms for proactive actions and its workplace applications. It aims to ensure proactive risk\u00a0management,\u00a0and protection of human capital in the face of workplace hazards while bolstering the safety of workers.<\/p>\n

Dr. Naseem said<\/strong>: \u201cDubai Municipality utilises advanced occupational health and safety management systems across the UAE.\u00a0Further, the municipality uses meticulously designed procedures,\u00a0regulations, and policies to ensure the safety and well-being of\u00a0all\u00a0municipal employees and its\u00a0service recipients.\u00a0The event reaffirms our long-standing commitment to developing a sustainable health and environmental\u00a0system,\u00a0aimed at making\u00a0Dubai the premier sustainable and well-being-centric destination.\u00a0Moreover, it furthers our wise leadership\u2019s vision to position Dubai as the best city to live and work in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Agenda<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Health and Safety Week, which will take place from\u00a0April 29\u00a0to\u00a0May 2, 2024, will feature talk sessions on the impact of climate change on occupational health and\u00a0safety,\u00a0and provide insights into the future of occupational health and safety.\u00a0It will also include presentations on best health and safety practices, as well as\u00a0workshops exploring first aid methods and critical risks that could impact workplace safety.<\/p>\n

An accompanying exhibition will feature specialized health and safety companies offering medical examinations to employees, while workers\u2019 awareness workshops will raise awareness on mandatory safety procedures and workers\u2019 rights.<\/p>\n

Representatives from key government organisations such as the International Labour Organization (OSH), the Dubai Health Authority, the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation,\u00a0Drydocks\u00a0World, the Permanent Committee of Labor Affair in Dubai, and Dubai Ambulance will be taking part in the event.
