{"id":64482,"date":"2025-03-13T15:34:39","date_gmt":"2025-03-13T11:34:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.dubaicityguide.com\/site\/?p=64482"},"modified":"2025-03-13T15:34:39","modified_gmt":"2025-03-13T11:34:39","slug":"al-tadawi-1-shines-with-upset-of-defending-champions-in-nas-sports-tournament-volleyball","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.dubaicityguide.com\/site\/al-tadawi-1-shines-with-upset-of-defending-champions-in-nas-sports-tournament-volleyball\/","title":{"rendered":"Al Tadawi 1 Shines With Upset Of Defending Champions In NAS Sports Tournament Volleyball"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\">Newcomers Al Tadawi 1 made an instant impact while securing a stunning 3-1 victory over defending champions Zabeel as the volleyball competition of the 12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament got under way at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Hall.<u><\/u><u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"en-AE\">The\u00a0<\/span>competitions are<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a0part of the 12th\u00a0<\/span>&#8216;<span lang=\"en-AE\">Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament<\/span>&#8216;<span lang=\"en-AE\">, the largest sporting event of its kind<\/span>\u00a0that was\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">launched and sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of <a href=\"https:\/\/dubaiverse.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dubai<\/a>, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defen<\/span>c<span lang=\"en-AE\">e and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\">This mega event<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a0is held annually during the holy month of Ramadan at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Manso<\/span>o<span lang=\"en-AE\">r bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, under the slogan\u00a0<\/span>&#8216;<span lang=\"en-AE\">Limitless\u00a0<\/span>Capa<span lang=\"en-AE\">bilities<\/span>&#8216;.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\">P<span lang=\"en-AE\">articipating in the tournament for the first time\u00a0<\/span>with<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a0players\u00a0<\/span>mainly\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">from Dynamo Moscow, one of Russia<\/span>&#8216;<span lang=\"en-AE\">s most prestigious clubs,\u00a0<\/span>Al Tadawi 1 fought back from a set down to\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">open the volleyball tournament with a 3-1 victory over\u00a0<\/span>defending champions,\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">Zabeel.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\">Brimming with confidence, Zabeel\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">dominat<\/span>ed much of\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">the first\u00a0<\/span>set\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">to secure a\u00a0<\/span>close\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">27-25\u00a0<\/span>win and go clear 1-0. But, with Maksim Sapozhkov, Denis Bogdan, Anton Semyshev and Ilia Vlasov finding their rhythm it seemed to be the night of the underdogs as Al Tadawi 1 ran away with the next three sets, 25-20, 25-23 and 25-21 to lodge the first major upset of the volleyball competition.<u><\/u><u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"en-AE\">Sapozhkov was\u00a0<\/span>rightly adjudged the\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">M<\/span>ost\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">V<\/span>aluable\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">P<\/span>layer for a game-high 16 points, followed by Bogdan (13) and 12 points apiece from Semyshev and Vlasov.<u><\/u><u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\">The second match of the night went the distance with Al Ameed securing a hard-fought 3-2 (22-25, 25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 15-10) win against HFH.<u><\/u><u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\">With neither of the teams allowing each other any liberty, it all boiled down to the versatile outside hitter and player of the match Luca Porro, who topscored with 22 points, even as his teammates Tommaso Stefani \u2013 who was menacing both in the attack and blocking while adding 20 valuable points &#8211; Mattia Orioli (18) and Fabian Plak (14) that eventually tipped the scales in favour of Al Ameed.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"en-AE\"><u><\/u>\u00a0<u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\"><b><span lang=\"en-AE\">Tug-of-War\u00a0<\/span><\/b><b>c<\/b><b><span lang=\"en-AE\">ontinue<\/span><\/b><b>s<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/b><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"en-AE\">The tug-of-war championship<\/span>s entered<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a0its second day, witnessing\u00a0<\/span>some more\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">intense competition and excitement among participating teams\u00a0<\/span>in all three categories.<u><\/u><u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"en-AE\">The National Guard<\/span>s secured their second straight win with a smooth 2-0 win against<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a0Dubai Police<\/span>, while t<span lang=\"en-AE\">he Ministry of Defen<\/span>c<span lang=\"en-AE\">e\u00a0<\/span>got the better of<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a0Dubai State Security Department, 2-0<\/span>\u00a0even as\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">Ras Al Khaimah Civil Defen<\/span>c<span lang=\"en-AE\">e\u00a0<\/span>brushed aside<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a0Dubai Civil Defen<\/span>c<span lang=\"en-AE\">e 2-0<\/span>\u00a0and the\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">Land Forces\u00a0<\/span>beat<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a0the Ministry of Education, 2-0<\/span>\u00a0in the<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a0Government Departments and Institutions category<\/span>.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\">Competition i<span lang=\"en-AE\">n the Community\u00a0<\/span>c<span lang=\"en-AE\">ategory<\/span>\u00a0too was stiff with\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">the IFBB Academy defeat<\/span>ing<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a0the Dulsco Group, Transguard Group\u00a0<\/span>skipped past<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a0Al Musalmani, EFS Champions\u00a0<\/span>beat\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">Agnes Contracting, Al Jawarih defeated Al Habtoor Group\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">Dutco Group\u00a0<\/span>tamed<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a0Al Sahel Company<\/span>.<u><\/u><u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\">In other encounters held later in the night,\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">Al Kawaser defeated Al Asifa, AG\u00a0<\/span>handed out\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">the\u00a0<\/span>first defeat to the\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">Kerala Kings and the Fighters\u00a0<\/span>got the better of<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a0Truss General Trading<\/span>.<u><\/u><u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"en-AE\">In the junior category, Sharjah Police Science Academy defeated the Ahmed bin Rashid School<\/span>,\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">2-0<\/span>, while t<span lang=\"en-AE\">he A25 Gym\u00a0<\/span>beat\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">B Ninja. Dubai Courts\u00a0<\/span>secured their first win with a 27-16 result against\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">the Department of Finance<\/span>, while t<span lang=\"en-AE\">he Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services\u00a0<\/span>eased through 24-13 against Dubai Club for People of\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">Determin<\/span>ation.<u><\/u><u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"en-AE\">Dubai Municipality\u00a0<\/span>is\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">now\u00a0<\/span>perched at the top of the\u00a0<span lang=\"en-AE\">stand<\/span>ing<span lang=\"en-AE\">s\u00a0<\/span>in Group 2 with<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a06 points, followed by Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, also\u00a0<\/span>with<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a06 points<\/span>,<span lang=\"en-AE\">\u00a0but\u00a0<\/span>an inferior scoreline<span lang=\"en-AE\">.
