Through specialised education, therapy and vocational programmes, the organisation helps develop essential life skills and build confidence while promoting greater inclusion in society.<\/p>\n<p>The world\u2019s largest international airline is giving back to the local community and supporting Mauritius\u2019 efforts of\u00a0empowering youth through education, training, and employment opportunities, with the objective of fostering their potential to make positive societal contributions.<\/p>\n<p>The donation event coincided with Mauritius\u2019 Independence Day celebrations and was held at APEIM in the presence of H.E. Mr. Dharambeer Gokhool, President of the Republic of Mauritius.<\/p>\n<p>The donation forms part of \u2018Aircrafted by Emirates\u2019 initiative, where the airline has repurposed materials from its aircraft interiors, including fabric from its A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft. \u00a0The treated seat fabric are handcrafted by Emirates Engineering into sturdy backpacks in Dubai, and donations have been made to schools and community organisations supporting children across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p><strong>H.E. Mr Dharambeer Gokhool, President of the Republic of Mauritius<\/strong>\u00a0stated: \u201cI express my profound gratitude to Emirates for its sincere commitment to Mauritius, a commitment that goes far beyond economic development to also support human and social well-being.<\/p>\n<p>These gestures of solidarity and generosity take on an even deeper meaning and remind us how essential mutual support and humanity remain.<\/p>\n<p>I hope that this donation from Emirates will contribute significantly to the well-being of our children and young people and encourage them to progress in their learning and development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The school bags, which were also filled with stationery and learning supplies, including pencils, notebooks, story books and drawing books,\u00a0were presented by Oomar Ramtoola, Emirates\u2019 Manager for the Indian Ocean Islands and the local Emirates team. At the event, the Emirates Mauritius team met with students, teachers and caregivers at APEIM to personally distribute the bags and celebrate the students\u2019 dedication to learning.<\/p>\n<p>Globally, Emirates has already donated more than 3,700 Aircrafted backpacks in 10 countries and partnered with 18 non-governmental organisations, helping to provide practical resources that support students\u2019 educational journeys while giving new life to the airline\u2019s interior cabin materials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oomar Ramtoola, Emirates\u2019 Manager for the Indian Ocean Islands<\/strong>, said: \u201cEducation is one of the most powerful tools we have to shape society and inspire the next generation. Through Emirates\u2019 Aircrafted initiative, we wanted to support students with something practical that helps them in their daily learning journey while also sharing a small piece of our history as an airline serving Mauritius.<\/p>\n<p>Mauritius has been an important part of the Emirates network for more than two decades, and we remain committed not only to connecting the island to the world but also to supporting the communities we serve. It was truly inspiring to meet the students and educators at APEIM and celebrate their dedication to learning and personal growth.
