The Dubai<\/a> International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts today marked the UAE\u2019s<\/a> first Emirati Women\u2019s Month by highlighting the leadership of Emirati women across its judiciary, Registry and Executive Team. Emirati women hold judicial office, lead the Registry and comprise two-thirds of the Executive Team, while women account for 62 per cent of the total workforce.<\/p>\n

H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak extended Emirati Women\u2019s Day into a month long national celebration under the 2026 theme, \u2018We Emerge Stronger and Better<\/strong>\u2019. The initiative recognises the contribution of Emirati women to the UAE\u2019s development and calls on institutions to expand their opportunities for leadership, advancement and impact.<\/p>\n

Within the DIFC Courts\u2019 independent English-language common law system, Emirati women contribute across judicial, Registry and executive functions. Their progression reflects sustained investment in developing national legal, judicial and court-administration expertise, creating a stronger pipeline of Emirati talent for senior roles in dispute resolution.<\/p>\n

H.E. Justice Omar Al Mheiri, Director of the DIFC Courts<\/strong>, said: \u201cThe first Emirati Women\u2019s Month recognises the contribution of Emirati women to the UAE\u2019s continued progress. At the DIFC Courts, Emirati women are shaping both the delivery and future direction of dispute resolution through their work across the judiciary, Registry and executive leadership. Their expertise and public service strengthen the institution today while creating a clear path for the next generation of Emirati women judges, registrars and court leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n

H.E. Justice Maha Al Mheiri, who hears cases in the Court of First Instance, became the first Emirati woman appointed to judicial office on a common law bench. Ayesha Bin Kalban is Registrar, leading the Registry and also serves as a Small Claims Tribunal judge and mediator. Amna Al Owais, the first Emirati woman to serve as Registrar of a common law court in the GCC, is now Deputy Director and helps lead the Court\u2019s strategy and institutional development. Reem Al Shihhe is Chief Operating Officer, overseeing the Court\u2019s operational departments following earlier leadership roles in human resources and business excellence.<\/p>\n

The DIFC Courts will continue to strengthen pathways for Emirati women to assume substantive responsibility across adjudication, court administration, mediation and institutional leadership, supporting the continued development of national capability in dispute resolution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
