The Ministry of Education has signed an agreement with Dubai Municipality to collaborate on developing national talent by creating innovative professional and technical educational pathways for Emirati students in public schools across the Emirate of Dubai<\/a>. The partnership aims to strengthen the alignment between academic outcomes and labour market needs, while providing students with broader opportunities for future study and employment in professional and technical fields.<\/p>\n

Under the agreement, the two entities will develop an integrated educational programme, starting from Grade 10, that combines academic knowledge, vocational education and practical training, leading to students obtaining accredited professional qualifications. The initiative will also establish a comprehensive support framework extending beyond Grade 12, enabling students to explore opportunities to continue their education and pursue career opportunities within Dubai Municipality upon fulfilling the relevant requirements.<\/p>\n

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Education by Her Excellency Amna Al Saleh, Assistant Undersecretary for the Curriculum and Assessment Sector, and on behalf of Dubai Municipality by Mr Ismail Al Hashemi, Acting CEO of the Corporate Support Services Sector, in the presence of a number of senior officials and representatives from both entities.<\/p>\n

Her Excellency Amna Al Saleh, Assistant Undersecretary for the Curriculum and Assessment Sector at the Ministry of Education, affirmed that building an education system capable of preparing generations equipped with the knowledge, skills and practical experience needed for the labour market of the future is a key pillar of developing the nation\u2019s human capital, noting that expanding educational and career options for students enables them to discover their abilities and interests at an early stage and make more informed decisions about their possible pathways.<\/p>\n

Her Excellency added that the impact of the initiative will extend beyond simply equipping students with specialised skills and experience, enabling them to develop their ability to take responsibility, work collaboratively, address practical challenges and plan for their future education and career choices with confidence.<\/p>\n

She further conveyed that the Ministry is working to develop a flexible, integrated educational model that responds to the rapid transformations taking place across vital sectors and provides students with meaningful opportunities to learn through relevant practice and experience, underscoring that the partnership with Dubai Municipality highlights the importance of designing learning experiences that are connected to real-world work environments with the aim of contributing to the preparation of qualified national talent capable of advancing national priorities and actively contributing to the UAE\u2019s development journey.<\/p>\n

Mr Ismail Al Hashemi, Acting CEO of the Corporate Support Services Sector at Dubai Municipality, commented that the agreement with the Ministry of Education represents an integrated step towards establishing a specialised educational and training pathway for Emirati students. With the pathway focusing on developing their capabilities and knowledge and preparing them for employment opportunities aligned with future labour market needs, while ensuring their education keeps pace with vital specialisations related to municipal work, the collaboration will ensure students are equipped to actively contribute to the UAE\u2019s broader development and the growth of its cities.<\/p>\n

Al Hashemi continued: \u201cAt Dubai Municipality, we believe in the capabilities and talents of Emirati youth and view investment in their development as an investment in the future. We are committed to empowering Emirati students by equipping them with the knowledge, skills and practical experience they need through innovative training programmes. By combining academic and field-based learning, these programmes strengthen students\u2019 academic and career advancement while enabling them to contribute to shaping the future of municipal work.\u201d<\/p>\n

The initiative combines vocational education with practical training and follows a structured journey that begins in Grade 10, progresses to accredited professional qualifications and provides students with opportunities to continue their education or pursue employment after Grade 12.<\/p>\n

With Dubai Municipality being the first government entity to introduce food safety as an educational subject within the education sector, the programme initially targets Emirati students specialising in food safety. Based on the outcomes of evaluation, consideration will be given to increasing the number of participating students and expanding the initiative in the future to include other technical disciplines.<\/p>\n

Under the agreement, the two entities will work together to develop and accredit vocational content and educational and digital resources, as well as preparing assessment tools, providing certified trainers, organising practical training and field visits and using virtual reality technologies to enrich the learning experience and give students practical insight into professional work environments.<\/p>\n

The areas of collaboration will include adapting school timetables, providing essential technologies and academic supervision, monitoring implementation quality and measuring the outcomes of the initiative, as well as coordinating the selection of participating students.<\/p>\n

The agreement will also provide financial incentives for students, in accordance with eligibility criteria and performance outcomes, and will ensure continued engagement after Grade 12 to support their educational opportunities. These measures will help sustain cooperation between the two entities and support the development of an expandable model for vocational and technical education pathways that is responsive to the needs of vital sectors and better prepares Emirati students for future study and employment opportunities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
