As part of its efforts to promote financial literacy among adolescents, the Community Development Authority in Dubai<\/a> (CDA) organised an event at Majlis Al Warqa to introduce Your Money. Your Future.<\/i><\/em>, an initiative launched by Emirati student Nimir Gargash in collaboration with financial sector professionals. The initiative aims to equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed to manage their money and make informed financial decisions, in line with the objectives of the Dubai Social Agenda 33 to strengthen family stability and enhance quality of life.<\/p>\n

From Financial Knowledge to Practical Application<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

The initiative aims to prepare young people to take responsibility for their finances, including managing inheritance and planning for financial independence. It offers an interactive programme developed in collaboration with specialists in wealth management, asset management and financial markets.<\/p>\n

Participants also have the opportunity to experience virtual investing by building investment portfolios and tracking market movements. This practical exercise helps them understand the impact of their decisions, evaluate their options and develop the skills needed to manage their money with greater awareness and responsibility.<\/p>\n

From a Family Conversation to a Community Initiative<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

The idea for Your Money. Your Future.<\/i><\/em>\u00a0emerged from a conversation between 17-year-old Nimir Gargash and a female relative who was preparing to take responsibility for her inheritance. When he discovered that she was unsure how to manage it, he began reflecting on how prepared young people are to make important financial decisions. This experience prompted him to collaborate with financial sector professionals to develop a programme that helps his peers acquire the knowledge needed to manage their money with confidence and responsibility.<\/p>\n

Supporting Youth-Led Initiatives and Strengthening Their Community Impact<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

Ali Al Qasim, Director of the Benefits and Empowerment Department at the Community Development Authority in Dubai, affirmed that empowering young people to manage their finances begins with equipping them with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions and plan for their future with confidence and independence.<\/p>\n

Al Qasim said: the CDA is committed to supporting initiatives driven by young people\u2019s ideas and responsive to their needs. Such initiatives provide practical skills that strengthen young people\u2019s ability to take responsibility and positively influence their lives and families. He added that these efforts align with the objectives of the Dubai Social Agenda 33 to strengthen family stability and build a cohesive and prosperous community.<\/p>\n

Nimir Gargash, founder of Your Money. Your Future.<\/i><\/em>, said: \u201cWe learn many things in preparation for university and our professional lives, but we do not learn as much about how to manage our money wisely. This is what inspired the initiative: to help young people understand money, make informed financial decisions and develop positive habits that give them greater confidence in managing their finances and planning for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gargash added that his ambition is to further develop the programme in collaboration with financial sector specialists and expand its reach to more young people across the UAE, enabling them to benefit from practical knowledge and expertise that will help them prepare for their financial responsibilities at an early stage.<\/p>\n
