The Human Resources & Development Department at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai is starting the summer internship programme (Ajyal) for Emirati secondary school and university students. The Programme stems from RTA’s keenness to embed the spirit of work and learning skills in the youth generation. The programme is set to start on 1 July and ends on 30 August 2018.

“We are always keen to run this summer internship programme for students to attract promosing Emirati talents in secondary schools and colleges. Ajyal is being held for the 10th year in a row, and since inception in 2008, it has attracted about 700 students,” said Mansour Al Falasi, Director of Human Resources and Development, RTA. “The Programme aims to instil the value of work in the conscience of interns and fill their free time by engaging them in performing duties of benefit in future. The summer training offers students exposure to diverse experiences through assigning them to various sectors, agencies and departments of the RTA. It will thus empower them to achieve the intended objectives by motivating them to work and pick up the norms of serving the community,” he added.

“The Human Resources and Development team will hold an induction gathering for students to brief them about the RTA, summer internship and student-related programmes such as the scholarships programme and fresh graduates programme.

“Training courses and field visits will be held for students to familiarise them with the achievements of the RTA Gallery; which encompasses the prominent projects undertaken in the past. They may also make external visits aboard public transportation means (such as the Ferry, buses and metro). The objective of these visits is to acquaint students with the achievements and services provided by the RTA and boost the corporate profile of  RTA amongst the community.
