The Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection (CCCP) sector in the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai has launched a Chinese language course for its inspectors in co-operation with the University of Dubai. The programme aims to enhance communication skills of DED staff and equip them to deal more efficiently with Chinese traders and consumers, particularly in commercial supervision and inspection as well as in protecting consumer rights.

The first programme will be held at the University of Dubai with a group of CCCP inspectors attending. The course will run from 9 August to 15 November 2018, offering 120 training hours.

Abdullah Al Kaabi, Director of Development & Follow-up in CCCP, said: “The Chinese language programme was launched in line with the directives of our leadership and in order to provide the necessary skills for our inspectors to perform their tasks with high quality and efficiency. The programme will equip the inspectors with the basics of Chinese language as well as on terminology related to commercial inspection, consumer protection and other CCCP functions.”

Al Kaabi added that Chinese businesses and consumers constitute a large and growing share of DED customers. “The Chinese language course is therefore aimed to improve overall customer satisfaction and service quality through empowering our employees to deal with the public in such a way that enhances happiness of our customers, particularly the Chinese speaking customers.”
