Luxury Menswear Brand John Varvatos To Launch In The Region
John Varvatos, an American luxury menswear brand, is set to open their first store in the Middle East. Opening in the new Dubai Mall fashion avenue, John Varvatos is a brand that occupies a unique place in the landscape of American design.
With a unique brand position that unites a rock n’ roll sensibility, old world craftsmanship and modern innovation, John Varvatos has become one of the most well-known menswear designers in the world. Drawing inspiration from the past and present only to repurpose these ideas into something entirely new. The resulting collections reflect quality and a meticulous attention to detail while creating luxurious, comfortable clothing for a modern lifestyle.
Launched in 2000 with a collection of tailored clothing and sportswear, the brand now represents an entire lifestyle that includes belts, bags, footwear, eyewear, jewelry, fragrances, and includes the younger and edgier John Varvatos Star U.S.A. collection and Bootleg by John Varvatos.
Before launching his own line, Varvatos was a men’s designer at Polo Ralph Lauren in 1983. He then moved on to Calvin Klein in 1990 where he was appointed to head of menswear design and oversaw the launch of the men’s collection and the cK brand. During his time at Calvin Klein, Varvatos transformed men’s underwear and was pivotal in the creation of the garments now called, boxer briefs, a hybrid of boxer shorts and briefs. The garments were made famous by a series of 1992 print ads featuring Mark Wahlberg, they have been called “one of the greatest apparel revolutions of the century.” In 1995, Varvatos returned to Ralph Lauren as head of menswear design for all of Polo Ralph Lauren brands and created the Polo Jeans Company.
