To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the DP World Tour Championship, a new ‘pop-up’ golf zone has been created in the Championship Village at Jumeirah Golf Estates, providing children of all ages and abilities with access to free coaching.

The DP World Generation Golf zone, which features a putting green and driving nets, aims to give first-timers a taste of the sport, whilst providing professional coaching for more experienced youngsters.

The initiative is part of DP World’s ongoing commitment to growing the game of golf in the region and opening-up the sport to more young people. In partnership with the Emirates Golf Federation, DP World has now introduced over 10,000 children to the sport. Nearly 5,000 have been engaged through the Arabic Schools Initiative or developed through the National Junior Development Program.

Daniel van Otterdijk, SVP Group Communications, DP World commented: “I am so proud to be in a business where we can make such a positive difference at a grassroots level. At DP World, we are focused on developing talent and investing in the next generation. Our partnership with European Tour has enabled us to achieve this ambition. It has opened the sport to new audiences and helped us support young players who could become future stars of the DP World Tour Championship.”

Robert Fiala, Operations Manager at Emirates Golf Federation said: “The DP World Tour Championships is an amazing showcase for golf and provides us with the perfect platform to give young people their first taste of the sport. The Generation Golf zone will be a fun environment for kids to try out their putting or improve their swing whilst the best 60 golfers in the world tackle the Earth Course a few hundred meters away.”

The Generation Golf zone is being hosted by professional coaches from Golf DXB from Thursday 15th – Sunday 18th November in the Championship Village at Jumeriah Golf Estates. Free tickets for the DP World Tour Championship are available from www.dpworldtourchampionship.com
