Special Olympics Flame Of Hope Lights Up Dubai For The Second Day In A Row
| The Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run continued its journey across the UAE on day seven (10 March) as the Flame of Hope visited landmark locations in Dubai for the second day in a row. |
| Torch runners began the day at Dubai Design District, before moving on to Dubai Frame and City Walk. The Flame of Hope was then carried from The Palm Jumeirah, Al Seef Village, Dubai Festival City.
Arabian Radio Network studios also welcomed the Flame of Hope with Special Olympics Australia athlete, Sherrie Eadie, Law Enforcement Officers and World Games’ spokespeople doing live interviews across Virgin Radio, Dubai Eye, Dubai 92, City 1016 and Al Arabiya, before heading to Sunmarke School, MBC and Dubai Mall Ice Rink. The closing ceremony of the day saw Law Enforcement Officers and Special Olympics athletes run 1km to Global Village for a special ceremony. Hundreds of residents from Dubai took to the streets to show their support for the athletes ahead of the World Games. Today (11 March), the Flame of Hope will be carried across a number of landmarks in Al Ain, including Al Ain Oasis, Al Ain zoo, Jebal Hafeet and the UAE university before a final ceremony is held at Hazza bin Zayed stadium at 6:15pm. Day nine and ten (12 and 13 March) will see Torch Runners carry the Flame of Hope across Al Dhafra and Abu Dhabi. The Torch Run will complete its journey when it is carried into the spectacular Opening Ceremony of the World Games at Zayed Sports City Stadium on the evening of 14 March. |
