Emirates Literature Foundation will host award-winning novelist Lisa O’Donnell at an intimate evening event on Tuesday 15 October, where she will discuss the art of storytelling and the tension between imagination and realism in fiction.

Acclaimed novelist Lisa won the Commonwealth Book Prize-for her debut The Death of Bees.  Her second novel, Closed Doors was described as a “dazzling new novel” by The New York Times Book Review. Lisa won the Orange Screenwriting Prize for her screenplay The Wedding Gift and was nominated for the Dennis Potter New Screenwriters’ Award. She is currently working on her third novel.

Lisa is in Dubai to deliver two creative writing courses in association with Curtis Brown Creative and the Emirates Literature Foundation. She teaches creative writing at City University London and Curtis Brown Creative.

The evening is part of the Emirates Literature Foundation’s year-round programme of literary events and will take place on Sunday 15 October at 7pm at the Creative Space, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dubai Festival City. Tickets cost AED 35.
