UAE Concours d’Elegance Celebrates Rarity Of Classic And Modern Supercars At Bulgari Hotel Marina
The UAE Concours d’Elegance, the prestigious international event, showcased 25 of the world’s best classic and modern bespoke supercars, under the patronage of FIVA (Federation Internationale Vehicules Anciens), and ESMO (Emirates Motor Sports Organisation), in the marina area of the magnificent Bulgari Hotel and Resort, Jumeirah Bay, Dubai, on December 14. The annual event attracted classic car collectors and aficionados from across the region and the globe.
Mana Al Suwaidi, Chairman of UAE Concours d’Elegance, said: “The 4th UAE Concours d’Elegance ignited immense interest among the region’s classic car owners and lovers of supercars. The unique cars were all restored and conditioned for Concours standards. This year’s highlight was the 100th anniversary Alpha Romeo Zagato. We were also delighted to have a rare collection of supercars, including the Porsche GT1 and the Mercedez Benz CLK GTR, one of six in the world.”
“The 2019 Concourse d’Elegance helped highlight the rarity and originality of fully restored cars in Dubai. One of them was the Alpha Romeo Giulia-1600 (1964), which came to Dubai in parts and was masterfully restored by a local restorer. This is a great achievement and represents a progression towards creating an ecosystem of classic car collection in the region and the UAE. In the past, collectors had to send their cars to Europe or the United States for restoration.”
The cars were adjudged by a panel of international judges consisting of Sandra Button, Nigel Mathews, Richard Adatto and Othman Nasif from Royal Jordanian Club.
This edition’s winners were Mercedes CLK AMG (Best Car of Concours 2019), Mercedes Gullwing 1955 (Best Classic Car); Porsche GT1 (Best Modern Car), Toyota FJ43 1983 (Best Restored Car) and Alfa Romeo 1964 Giulia (People’s Choice).
“This year’s UAE Concours was more like a trailer to the grand edition we are planning next year to match the scale and grandeur of Expo 2020,” said Mana Al Suwaidi. “It will be a three-day event and will run at the Bulgari Hotel and Resort marina from December 10 to 12, 2020. It will be a grand celebration of classic and modern bespoke cars from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt as well as EU and Asia Pacific. The 5th UAE Concours d’Elegance will therefore be the biggest Asia Pacific Concours in a new innovative format. As this is a mega lifestyle event that will attract the crème de la crème, we invite stakeholders and partners dealing in lifestyle products to be part of it.”
During the three-day show, discerning collectors and owners of these extraordinary creations will celebrate the unique craftsmanship, individuality and passion associated with these remarkable automotive works of art.
“Our aim is to generate excitement among collectors and those who share passion for rare cars and supercars. We have positioned the UAE Concours d’Elegance as the region’s ultimate destination to experience the passion for rare cars,” said Mana Al Suwaidi.
