Dubai Opera And Broadway Entertainment Group Partner With Sharjah World Book Capital 2019
Dubai Opera and Broadway Entertainment Group have partnered with Sharjah UNESCO World Book Capital 2019, to celebrate the power of culture, performance, literature and poetry to unite people across borders and generations.
The partnership celebrates the Winter/Spring 2020 series of performances staged at Dubai Opera offering theatregoers a complimentary book on the opening night for theatrical adaptations based on novels such as ‘BROKEN WINGS’, ‘LE PETIT PRINCE’ and ‘THE KITE RUNNER’.
‘BROKEN WINGS’
‘BROKEN WINGS’, the musical based on Lebanese-born Gibran Khalil Gibran’s 1912 autobiographical tale of the same name will debut at Dubai Opera on 17 January 2020. Gibran Khalil Gibran, the globally renowned author of acclaimed novels such as ‘The Prophet’, ‘The Madman’, ‘Sand and Foam’ and ‘A Tear and a Smile’ was born in Lebanon on 6 January 1883. Adapted for the stage by Middle East duo Nadim Naaman and Dana Alfardan, directed by Bronagh Lagan and produced by Ali Matar, with orchestrations by Joe Davison, the production was originally staged in London’s West End and was a highlight of the Beiteddine Festival in Lebanon in the summer of 2019.

‘LE PETIT PRINCE’
Based on the original 1945 book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, this new show takes audiences on an extraordinary journey through the heart of dance and modern circus. Set to wow adults and children alike, audiences will be completely immersed in the Little Prince’s cosmic and fantastical world featuring stunning sets, costumes and video mapping technology with choreography and direction by Anne Tournié, adapted and co-directed by Chris Mouron, and with original music by Terry Truck.
