Maluma, one of the world’s most recognisable Latin voices will be performing at Coca-Cola Arena on Valentine’s Day (14th February). There’s still time to get tickets on what promises to be an unmissable show and here are five things that you may not already know about the icon:

  1. He’s unstoppable: The 2018 Latin GRAMMY award winner has over 23 million Facebook fans, 6 million Twitter followers, and a whopping 46 million followers on Instagram (making him the leading Latin male artist on Instagram). Plus, he has over 9 billion views and more than 22 million subscribers on YouTube. If that’s not all, since joining Sony Music Latin in 2015, Maluma has released three albums, all of which have debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Latin Albums Chart.
  2. He’s a family man: Family is one of the most important factors to Maluma. He decided on the stage name ‘Maluma‘ as a way to keep his family with him while performing across the globe. In fact, his name is broken down into the following three symbols: ‘Ma‘ is for his mother, Marlli, ‘Lu‘ is for his father Luis, and ‘Ma‘ is for his younger sister Manuela.
  3. His dream was once to become a Footballer: Believe it or not, from a young age he dreamt of becoming a professional Footballer. It wasn’t until his early teens that he transitioned into the world of music. Perhaps his love for football was the reason he collaborated with singer Elvis Crespo, on the theme song “Olé Brazil” recorded for the 2014 FIFA World Cup!
  4. He’s known for his fashion: Maluma is always in line with the latest fashion trends, he describes fashion as his way of communicating how he’s feeling just like he expresses himself in his music, for him they go hand in hand. His musical talent combined with his personality and charm make him one of the most irresistible singers of the era.
  5. Why he called his album and world tour ’11:11′: Maluma believes in Destiny. The number was following him everywhere, so every time he saw it he decided to make three wishes. All became a reality. Maluma said he wanted to show the world that dreams do come true, and to help show people that they can achieve whatever they want.
