Is it possible to go offline? du’s #digitalfasting initiative to cement bonds through an exceptional fasting experience
In the spirit of self-reflection and realigning personal values to focus on the valuable essence of life, Omar Bin Haider is the first person in the UAE to commit to going offline between Suhoor and Iftar with du’s #digitalfasting movement.
With the aim of reconnecting with himself, his friends and family, and as part of the initiative, Omar will undergo a set of challenges throughout the month, to highlight how he can get back in touch with the world around him. Using basic tools such as a non-digital camera and paper map to document and navigate his way through the month, Omar and du aim to prove that going offline and leading a regular life, can be achieved. du will share Omar’s adventures on du’s YouTube and social media channels, in addition to du.ae/Ramadan.
“The Holy month of Ramadan is all about strengthening one’s faith, the spirit of giving and creating and strengthening bonds. Therefore, this year, we urge you to focus on what really matters out there by reconnecting with your life beyond a device,” said Hala Badri, Executive Vice President, Brand and Communications, du. “#digitalfasting has already become a popular movement in the du offices, and we are excited to learn how taking a break from your digital devices adds life to life for you.”
With this innovative campaign, du is urging people from all walks of life to join the #digitalfasting movement and rediscover life without technology. Whether users choose to go offline for an hour, a day or an entire month, they are encouraged to use the hashtag #digitalfasting and share their experiences on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
