Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) today joined the UAE leadership, citizens, and residents in celebrating the country’s Flag Day. The national commemoration coincides with the anniversary of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s ascension as leader of the country.

The UAE flag was hoisted at DSOA’s headquarters at 11am. The ceremony was preceded by a series of audio quotes in honour of the UAE’s founding father, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, as well as a rendition of the UAE Army Oath by national children. Following the raising of the flag, balloons in the colours of the UAE flag were released. The event was held in the presence of staff members and representatives of companies operating from the hi-tech park.

Shahla Ahmed Abdul Razak, Deputy CEO of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, said: “The national flag is a symbol of pride for Emiratis and expats alike. The colours of the flag symbolizes the unity of the UAE’s seven emirates. Green represents hope and optimism, white signifies peace and honesty, black stands for the defeat of enemies and strength of mind. The red symbolises strength and courage, while its vertical position also binds all the other meanings together in unity.”
