Thai Prodigy Singhsuwan Set For Omega Dubai Ladies Masters Debut
Chayuda Singhsuwan will provide a glimpse into a new class of fresh-faced golfers looking to make their mark on the professional circuit when she tees it up at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters at Emirates Golf Club on December 7-10.
Already being spoken of as the next big thing on the Thailand women’s tour, Singhsuwan will join a star-studded field spearheaded by defending champion Shanshan Feng, Dame Laura Davies, Cheyenne Woods and Charley Hull among other leading lights on the tour.
A two-time amateur winner of the Thailand Ladies Open before turning professional in 2010, Singhsuwan has won many plaudits across the board while plying her trade on Thailand, China and Taiwan LPGA tours in addition to donning her country’s colours in international events.
“I’m really excited to get out there and play alongside such a world-class field, it’s just awesome. I can’t wait to get started,” said Singhsuwan, who wants to follow in the footsteps of Ariya Jutanugarn, the first golfer, male or female, from Thailand to win a major championship, a feat she achieved at the 2016 Women’s British Open.
“What Ariya has accomplished in just phenomenal. She is a role model for all aspiring Thai golfers,” said Singhsuwan, who graduated in business from Bangkok University.
“I am grateful to golf in DUBAi for the invitation. Hopefully, I can go out there and be competitive. Whatever the outcome, it will be a great learning curve for me. I am sure I will return home with memories to cherish for a long time to come,” she added.
“If I play to my potential, I can expect a good result. I am looking forward to the challenge and making friends with some of the top players in the world, said Singhsuwan, who is also a brand ambassador for Golf Citizen, one of the fastest growing online tee time booking engines that aims at stimulating growth of golf in Thailand.
“What Golf Citizen is doing to promote Thailand as a golf destination is just remarkable.
“Ours is a country blessed with a stunning landscape varying from wide, sandy beaches to green hills, one that resonates well with golf enthusiasts keen to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery that only nature can inspire,” she said.
Commented Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice chairman and CEO of golf in DUBAi, said: “Chayuda is an emerging star on the horizon, one who is also of the ‘savvy, social media types’ the game needs to attract new talent.
“We try and rotate invitations each year so that everyone who has achieved a certain level gets first-hand experience of what it takes to compete at this level of golf
“I wish Chayuda the very best and hope her presence in the world-class field will motivate other emerging players to aim for greater things in life.”
