Commemorating the 12th day of Christmas and the day of Epiphany when the 3 Kings visited baby Jesus in Bethlehem, the Luxembourg Pavilion is inviting guests to experience an ancient European tradition dating back to the 14th century whilst sampling the classical royal dessert known as The King’s Cake or Dräikinnekskuch with a twist.

The King’s Cake is a delicate puff pastry cake with a delightful filling. The scrumptious cake has a figurine hidden inside and the lucky gourmand / gourmet who discovers this hidden charm is then named the king or queen of the occasion.

Celebrating the true essence of this tradition, Michelin-starred Head Chef, Kim Kevin de Dood has rolled his sleeves to curate the perfect royal dessert, and as per the tradition, has hidden a special figurine in one of the cakes prepared. The lucky person who finds the figurine will be rewarded and treated to Chef’s guest menu for 2 persons with beverages included.

Featuring a classic frangipani filling or a red berries filling, King’s Cake or Dräikinnekskuch is available on order from the Schengen Lounge from 6th to 8th January and costs AED 50 for 2 pieces.
