Continuing its reign as one of the most popular country pavilions at Expo 2020 Dubai, the Thailand Pavilion is getting the new year off to a fabulous start by hosting the much-anticipated Thailand Innovation Week.

A must for anyone interested in technology and innovation, the exciting and action-packed event is bringing the ultimate melting pot of digital discussions and ideas to the UAE. Running until February 17, the event features four fascinating booths provided by Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, Ministry of Industry, Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) and PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP).

Created to inform and enlighten visitors to Expo 2020 Dubai about Thailand’s countless talented creatives and inventors, guests can currently experience a booth dedicated to the Village Broadband Internet Project (Net Pracharat). Organised by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, it explains how the company is using an underwater network of fiber optic cables to create a sustainable future with equal opportunities for all. This telecommunication infrastructure enables Thai people to receive quality education, public health and government services, and access useful information whilst paying reduced internet service fees. In 2019, Net Pracharat was awarded for its outstanding contribution towards strengthening the implementation at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Outcomes.

Food connoisseurs are also invited to explore an exceptional selection of Thai halal products with the Sawasdee Halal booth organised by the Ministry of Industry. Featuring both food and non-food items, each product has been meticulously selected with great care to provide visitors with the finest selections of Thai goods. Fully certified and in line with the international standards set by the GMP, HACCP, HALAL, ISO22000 and FDA, visitors are able to scan special QR codes to learn more about each product.

Finally, PTTEP, leading exploration and production company in Asia, and its subsidiary, AI and Robotics Ventures (ARV) will showcase cutting-edge technological innovations, offering simplified solutions to meet the challenges of business and minimize environmental impact of operations for various industries. Highlighted technologies include “Nautilus”, the world first autonomous and cost‐effective robot for subsea pipeline repair, “AiANG” Sprayer Drone, advanced drone to enable cost-effective precision farming with a one stop service agriculture super-app, and “Xplorer”, a pipeline inspection-class autonomous underwater vehicle. With investment projects in 15 countries across the globe, including the UAE and Oman, the PTTEP booth allows visitors to experience the awe-inspiring powers of the company’s most advanced technologies.

Now already concluded, Thailand Innovation Week also saw the Thailand Pavilion host an additional booth about the Netpracharat Project that provided Q&A games and collectable pins as prizes. It proved very popular amongst guests and the pavilion staff and in fact the entire event is set to further cement the Thailand Pavilion’s position as one of the most enjoyable features of the global world stage.

Alongside Thailand Innovation Week, the Thailand Pavilion team will also be hosting a number of other educational, entertaining and family-friendly events throughout the remaining few months of Expo 2020 Dubai. Visitors from the UAE and across the globe can look forward to immersing themselves in Energy and Environment Week, the Festival of Happiness and Thai Smile Week.
