flydubai, the Dubai-based airline, was recognised as the Best Low-Cost Airline serving the Middle East at this year’s Business Traveller Middle East Awards. It is the 8th time that flydubai has won the award.

Voted by the public and readers of the magazine, the award reflects flydubai’s agility as a business and highlights the contributions the airline has made to the travel sector in the past year. Francois Oberholzer, Chief Financial Officer at flydubai, collected the award on behalf of the airline on Monday evening during a gala event held in Dubai.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, commented on the award: “we are honoured to be named Best Low-Cost Airline serving the Middle East for the 8th time. This recognition is a demonstration of our strong business model and preparedness to increase our operations as soon as travel restrictions started to ease and demand for travel returned. With our growing fleet of 63 aircraft and by opening up more destinations and underserved markets we are able to cater to our customers’ demand for increased travel, in particular over summer. Thanks to the hard work and commitment of everyone at flydubai, we were able to increase our network to more than 95 destinations in 50 countries, including new routes to AlUla, Ljubljana, Pisa, and Salzburg as well as seasonal operations to Batumi, Bodrum, Dubrovnik, Mykonos, Santorini, Tivat and Trabzon.”
