An increase of 38% in citizens’ marriage in Dubai last month and a decline in divorce
Data revealed by the Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) showed that the number of marriage contracts registered in the Emirate of Dubai last January reached 578, compared to 381 contracts during the same period in 2020, with a growth rate of about 51.7%.
A report issued by the DSC showed that marriage contracts of citizens increased during the last month by 38.7%, compared to the same period of the last year, while divorces decreased by about 21%.
According to the data issued by the Dubai Courts, the number of marriage contracts for an Emirati husband and wife reached 136 contracts (23.5% of the total registered contracts). As for the total marriage contracts for an Emirati husband married to a non-Emirati, (including cases of Emirati women married to a non-Emirati), it reached 85 contracts, representing 14.2% .
As to (non-Emirati and non-Emirati) marriage contracts, it amounted to 357 contracts, which made up about 61.8% of the total registered contracts.
According to the data, 135 divorces were registered during the last month, compared to 198 divorces in the same period of the last year, marking about 28.57% decrease.
The number of divorces among UAE citizens reached 30 cases at 22.2% of the total divorces. The number of divorce cases for a UAE citizen married to a non-citizen (including Emirati women married to a non-Emirati), is 19 divorces, representing 14.1% of the total divorces.
