Avivo’s Ribbon Of Life Walk In Support Of Breast Cancer On 19th October
To mark solidarity towards breast cancer patients and survivors and to create awareness on the disease, Avivo Group is organising the “Ribbon of Life Walk” on Friday, October 19th. Open to all, the two-kilometer walk, which will be held between 4pm and 5 pm at Horizon International School, Al Wasl, Dubai, aims to alert public on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and the importance of screening and early detection to raise survival chances. Onsite registrations can be done at the venue on the day of the walk between 3:00 – 3:45 pm.
To further support the cause, Avivo Group is encouraging women across UAE to avail free mammography and breast examination at Group’s facilities in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah namely National Hospital- Abu Dhabi, Reem Medical and Diagnostic Centre- Sharjah and Primacare Speciality Clinic, Musalla Tower, Bur Dubai.
Commenting on the initiative, Dr Dilshaad Ali, Group CEO, Avivo Group, said
“Our group is committed to creating the bond of care and endeavours to create awareness on the debilitating diseases affecting people, cancer being one of them. By providing women access to free screenings for breast cancer, we want to help them to be more aware and in control of the situation. Identifying any disease early on can save many lives and that’s what we all need to realise”.
The event would also be attended by breast cancer survivors who would share their experiences and their journey, while doctors will discuss the medical aspects of the disease.
“This year alone, over 4,500 people in the UAE were diagnosed with cancer, and within that more than 20 percent were breast cancer cases. This should give us an idea of how essential it is for every woman over the age of 40 to go for regular screening. Early breast cancer detection allows for more treatment options and better chances of survival”, added Dr. Dilshaad.
“Everyone is invited to come out in large numbers to support Avivo’s Ribbon of Life Walk to create further awareness on breast cancer, encouraging our mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, colleagues and other family members to go through screenings. Let’s create the bond of care and work towards eliminating this disease”, further commented Dr. Dilshaad.
The event is facilitated by Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Police and RTA.
The Avivo Group is among the most trusted and leading healthcare service providers in the UAE, with over 220 qualified doctors, each being an expert in their respective fields, and over 1200 compassionate employees serving around 1 million patients a year.
