Bao Wow, an Asian street-food concept designed to complement and diversify City Walk’s existing food and beverage offering, has opened its doors to the public. The restaurant’s menu will incorporate traditional and modern dishes from China, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan.

Sweet, sour and meaty, gua bao are mid-sized rolls which are ubiquitous in Taiwan’s alleys. The name Bow Wow is inspired by these tantalising steamed buns that are the restaurant’s signature dish. The catchy moniker effortlessly highlights the heart of the menu, which comes with an array of delicious fillings, including chilli beef.

Chef Stefan Niermann, will lead the kitchen team with his unique approach to Asian-style cooking, with its vibrant presentation, is reflected in the restaurant’s colourful environs, shaped by Dubai-based graffiti artist, Ramy Elzaghawy. The interior boasts an eclectic mix of urban and trendy infused touches, with leather booths and Chinese lanterns being beautifully welded together. Guests can admire the views of the City Walk boulevard whilst sitting back and enjoying the Bao Wow delicacies.

Creative small plates such as the steamed gyoza with chicken, are presented on smoky dry ice -a visually appealing experience for diners. These are complemented by an array of delicate maki rolls and assorted dim sum. Larger plates include the stir-fried Singapore-style vermicelli noodles with pak choi, shallots and curry powder, and the beef ramen, made from three different types of stock. The stand-out dessert is undoubtedly the Nutella dim sum, which comes with raspberry and vanilla ice cream.

The confluence of urban-grit and relaxed Asian cool is evident in the eatery’s casual tables and booths which blend wood, leather, graffiti art and Chinese-style lanterns, seamlessly. Colourfully presented dishes are served in steamed baskets and on acrylic plates, both, bringing modern design and old-style customs to life in equal measure.

The venue can hold over 60 diners and is well-equipped to host intimate private events and celebrations for Dubai’s cosmopolitan epicures. Offering a pocket-friendly dining option, the average price of a meal for two is AED 150.
