Barceló Hotel Group Celebrates Spanish National Day At Expo 2020 Dubai
Renowned Spanish hospitality chain, Barceló Hotel Group, delightfully celebrated the Spanish National Day at Expo 2020 on Wednesday, 2nd February 2022. In partnership with Expo 2020, the leading Spanish hospitality chain is the Official Ticket Reseller and a key collaborator of the Spain Pavilion. The renowned brand is thrilled to be hosting Spanish dignitaries along with the Spanish National Ballet in their properties.
The significant celebration for Spanish National Day welcomed Spanish President Pedro Sànchez alongside the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares. Chief Executive Officer at Barceló Group, Raúl González also made an appearance on behalf of the Spanish hotel group.
Raùl Gonzàlez commented, “We are very excited to celebrate Spain’s National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai today. As part of our commitment of expanding and promoting Spain as a brand globally, across all top tier international forums, we became proud sponsors of the Spain Pavilion in Expo 2020 Dubai and Silver sponsor of the Spanish Business Council in UAE. We are also pro-actively participating in most of the events organized by all Spanish governmental and private institutions during this period. Today has been a great day and a wonderful opportunity to showcase exactly what Spain has to offer”
The celebration of the ‘Day of Spain’ saw the bilateral meeting between important authorities and delegations, who explored the facilities of the Spain Pavilion. Additionally, economic forums were held to encourage debate and collaboration in order to develop sustainable projects that promote the ecological transition in Spain.
The Spanish Pavilion commemorated festivities, kicking-off with the Ceremonia Oficial at Al Wasl Plaza with a mesmerizing solo dance performance by the Director of the Spanish National Ballet, Rubén Olmo, who performed the Jauléna; a traditional dance inspired the city of Granada which infuses the three disciplines of Spanish dance: stylized dance, the Bolero school and flamenco.
The breathtaking performance by Olma was followed by a tantalizing musical and drone show, of the enriched Andalusian music – ‘Rediscovering Spain’ by La Accademia del Piacere. Beguiling performances of the ‘Invocación’ by the Ballet Naciónal de España took place at the Expo site where flamenco and the rhythm of the traditional Andalusian dance won the crowds over, tributing the creator of the flamenco himself, Mario Maya. Visitors were also treated to a unique gastronomical experience at the pavilion, which highlighted the brilliancy of Spanish women in gastronomy with a live tasting of the flavors of Spain – ‘Spanish Rice.’
Raquel López García, VP Sales & Marketing GCC at Barceló Hotel Group, shared, “We are very proud to represent Spain on such an esteemed global platform that is Expo Dubai 2020, not only as key collaborators of the Spain Pavilion but also as an Official Ticket Reseller.
