Dubai Sports Council (DSC) has honored Barcelona Team of Spain as champion for the 6th Dubai Intercontinental Football Cup – U 13, the biggest of its kind in terms of the variety & names of participating teams, which was organized by Fursan Hispania Academy under supervision of DSC.

The Championship took place from 10th to 12th Feb. 2023 at GEMS Winchester School in Dubai with participation of more than 400 players, represented 20 teams; among which were four Emirati teams; these are Al-Nasr, Al-Wasl, Shabab Al-Ahli & Al-Wehda.

The winners were honored by Mr. Ahmed Salem Al-Mahri, Director of the Sports Development Dept. in DSC / Mr. Michel Salgado, the former prominent star of Real Madrid & Spanish National Team.

Barcelona beat Cruzeiro of Brazil 4 – 3 via penalty shootout in the final match to win the Championship’s Cup. With regard to individual awards, the Chelsea’s Hezekiah Grimwade was honored as the Championship’s best player, while the Cruzeiro’s Kek Masudo won the top scorer’s award and Pablo Penia of Barcelona gained the best goalkeeper’s title.

In Silver Cup Competition, the Wakatak Team of Japan defeated Valladolid of Spain 5 – 4 via penalty shootout in the final match to win the 1st place.

The Championship was organized as per the FIFA’s regulations and it was held with participation of 20 teams as follows: AC Milan of Italy, Valladolid of Spain, Wakatak, the Al Wehda team of UAE, Chelsea of England, Fursan Spania from the UAE, Muscat of Oman, Fursan Spania the White, Barcelona of Spain, Caf from Canada, Al-Nasr from UAE, Rodina of Russia, Real Madrid of Spain, Shabab Al-Ahli of the UAE, Al-Fatah from Saudi Arabia, Paphos of Cyprus, Cruzeiro of Brazil, RC Celta of Spain, Zad from Egypt and Al Wasl of UAE.

Dubai Intercontinental Football Cup – U 13 is a model of cooperation between DSC & private entities to develop the sports sector via organization of various community & sports championships and events. The Championship is held as part of DSC’s keenness to provide unique opportunity for clubs & football companies in UAE to boost technical levels of local coaches & players through competitions vs. teams from different world academies. It also aims to qualify promising stars and help them to join national teams & represent the homeland in the international fields.

The Championship was organized as part of DSC’s comprehensive strategy to organize sports championships for the various juniors’ ages,with distinctive local & international participation, aiming to develop local & world promising talents who are keen to continue their career to join top world clubs. DSC’s strategy also comprises organization of various championships for all age groups. All these championships are considered as an Emirati national product, which are presented by DSC and developed annually to become top on the list of sports events for all age groups.
