This year, VOX Cinemas is screening the biggest films generating Oscar buzz at their dedicated DIFF 365@VOX screen in Mall of the Emirates. All films will be shown in their original versions.

Here’s what you can watch and when:

WEEK ONE: 22 to 28 FEBRUARY

The Big Sick – 18+

Pakistan-born comedian Kumail Nanjiani and graduate student Emily Gardner fall in love after what they thought would be a brief encounter, but the pair struggle as their cultures clash. When Emily contracts a mysterious illness, Kumail finds himself forced to face her feisty parents, the more traditional expectations of his family and his true feelings.

The Big Sick is nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

The Florida Project – 18+

Set over one summer, the film follows precocious six-year-old Moonee as she courts mischief and adventure with her ragtag playmates and bonds with her rebellious but caring mother, all while living in the shadows of Disney World.

The Florida Project’s Willem Dafoe is nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

Loving Vincent – 18+

In a story depicted in oil painted animation, a young man comes to the last hometown of painter Vincent van Gogh to deliver the troubled artist’s final letter and ends up investigating his last days there.

Loving Vincent is nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film.

Coco

Despite his family’s generations-old ban on music, young Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead. After meeting a charming trickster named Héctor, the two new friends embark on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

Coco is nominated for two Oscars: one for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song (“Remember Me”).

WEEK TWO: 1 to 7 MARCH

Lady Bird – 18+

In 2002, an artistically inclined seventeen-year-old girl comes of age in Sacramento, California while navigating a loving but turbulent relationship with her strong-willed mother.

On an award streak, Lady Bird is nominated for five Oscars: Best Picture, Lead Actress for Saoirse Ronan, Supporting Actress for Laurie Metcalf, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.

The Square – 18+

Disaster strikes when a curator hires a public relations team to build some buzz for his renowned Swedish museum.

The Square is nominated for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film (Swedish).

Loveless – 18+

An estranged Russian couple going through a brutal divorce want to start over with their new partners, until their 12-year-old son disappears after witnessing one of their fights.

Loveless is nominated for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film (Russian).
