In celebration of International Women’s Day, Central Park Towers in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) will be hosting, for a second year, an exceptional art exhibition titled “Women in Art”. The exhibition will commence on 4th March 2020 with a ribbon cutting at 8:00pm and will showcase 100 aspiring and talented female artists living in the UAE. Located in The Cube at Central Park Towers, local art enthusiasts are encouraged to visit the exhibition until 16th April. All artworks will be for sale and an excellent opportunity to purchase an original piece of art.

The exhibition aims to shine a bright light on the female contribution to the country’s art scene. This year more than 200 entries were received, out of which 100 artworks were selected by a professional selection committee managed by Gallery Arabesque. The artworks being showcased have been curated highlighting a variety of mediums and will represent a range of nationalities and art styles.

Susan Mikloska, Marketing Director at Central Park Towers said “We are delighted at the overwhelming response from talented women artists in the UAE. The huge response we received was amazing and it’s an honour to be able to provide so many women artists the opportunity to share their talents with visitors to Central Park Towers. A woman-only art exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate International Women’s Day as well as the significant contributions women are making to the local art community.”

The exhibition patron is prominent Emirati artist Dr. Najat Makki, who is a member of the Dubai Cultural Council and one of the pioneers in Emirati contemporary art scene. Being the first Emirati woman to receive a government scholarship to study art aboard, she travelled to the College of Fine Arts in Cairo in 1977 where she obtained her BA and MA degrees in relief sculptures and metalwork. Following this, she went on to study further and received a PhD in numisology. She has won numerous awards throughout her career, including the National Award for Arts, Sciences and Literature in 2008.  Dr Makki will open the exhibition on 4th March at 8pm.

The Women in Art exhibition is open from March 4th and will run until April 16th and is located in The Cube at Central Park Towers, DIFC. The exhibition was supported by Gallery Arabesque and its Managing Director Bassem Zbeeb.
