The UAE’s favourite Latin American destination, COYA Dubai unveils one of the secret ingredients that make up its inimitably unique DNA this spring. Combining creative dining with musical and artistic flair, the 2016 edition of the COYA Collective reveals a hand-picked selection of the most vivacious talents from the world- straight to your doorstep.

The COYA Collective is a signature movement that defines COYA’s ethos and beliefs. COYA Dubai acts as a gateway from Dubai to the oftentimes undiscovered and lesser known realms of art, music, creative expression and annual events. Hosting Art openings, pop ups, performances, musical events, readings, intimate conversations and large scale festivities alike, the world of COYA becomes a magical, multi-dimensional experience and further cements its stance as a bona fide cultural destination.

Consisting of three major elements, the COYA Collective aims to encapsulate both traditional and contemporary cultural initiatives to ensure that the guest can immerse themselves in the most dynamic experience.

1.Music- Providing the guests of the UAE with an eclectic playlist, the outlet combines a selection of vibrant live music to trendy DJs play a host of genres representing the old and the new, reveling in the cross pollination between Latin culture and other influenced musical traditions.

a.De Cajon T3iO: An enchanting trio consisting of vocalist Ximena, guitarist Oscar and Manuel playing conga drums four times a week in COYA’s Members Club.
b.The Residents: DJ Rogerio Lopez, DJ Stephane Karl and DJ Roberto Mermand alternate spinning exceptionally selected sounds and creates COYA’s signature toe-tapping ambiance five nights a week from 9pm onwards.

2. Celebrations – Annual celebrations of everything Latin American take place every quarter at COYA Dubai.

Equinox/Equinoccio (March) – Regarded as a celebration of new beginnings, Equinoccio is suitably recognised as a celebration of rebirth in the northern hemisphere- inspired by the Sun and the Moon.

La Noche Blanca (June) – COYA Dubai’s white partyy is one of Dubai’s highly anticipated summer event. World famous DJs lay the mood of the evening while professional dancers add to the party atmosphere. Guests party until 3am enjoying premium bottle service.

Dia de Los Muertos (October) – Putting a twisst on traditional Latin American Halloween festivities, COYA is transformed every year into a terrifying full-on night club by world class production teams. Beats from world famous DJs keep UAE guests dancing all night.

New Year’s Eve (December) – New Year’s Eve at COYA Dubai is a stylish and sophisticated affair with Latin American musicians flown over for the occasion. Inspired by the Incan heritage, the night is themed in Gold and Red and our Executive Chef and Mixologist work all year designing a gastronomic experience in preparation for this truly unique journey.

Art- By maintaining an on-going commitment to Latin American culture and each of the regions it builds a home in, COYA prides itself as the home of artists with Latin American roots or origins, talented emerging artists of the region and established international artists alike- acting as a gallery and a non-traditional art destination. Artists represented since opening have been:

Martin Chambi’s Special Collection- Arguably the greatest Peruvian photographer of all time- he influenced Mario Testino. Each of the COYA properties worldwide have their own Martin Chambi Collection which was generously given as a present by Martin Chambi’s grandson.
Sandra Eleta’s Portobelo collection- Panamanian photographer making reference to her long life connection to the Caribbean village of Portobelo and those on the outer edges of society.

Esther Chico Arias Lights and Shadows – Arias use of colour and shadows in her pieces are a reflection of the heart and mind – alsoo showcasing the evolution of humanity and how people reach out for peace and happiness during hopeless stages of life.

Suzy Fadel Nassif’s ‘Fragments of Nostalgia – The Lebanese artist captures the experiences of different stages of humanity and link the essence of the theme in the artist’s own rendition of what this month means.

Luiz Chumpitaz’sOceanicaThe Peruvian artist’s pieces reflect an innate curiosity and passion about human nature. This collection creates imaginative tableaux of the ethereal, even fantastical, moments that punctuate daily routine and of the ghosts that inhabit the world of underwater dreams.
