Day Three At The Emirates Airline Festival Of Literature
The third day of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature continued to amaze fans with a line-up of inspiring sessions and workshops from yet more amazing international and local authors. The day focused on the publishing industry, with topics ranging from dynamics of translation, digital changes to the value of editorial and what literary agents can bring to our region.
Highlights of the day included an inspirational session with radio presenter and author Richard Dean, who discussed his ground-breaking new book CROWDPLEASER: the 100 greatest public speaking tips of all time from Socrates to Steve Jobs, which included 100 classic tips, track and hack on the art of speaking.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid children’s author and illustrator Jeff Kinney met over 2,000 of his biggest fans as school children lined up to get their favourite book signed.
In the first ever biography of the extraordinary Lettice Knollys, historian and English history expert Nicola Tallis told the story of a favourite kinswoman of Elizabeth I who became a bitter rival. She showcased Lettice’s story, which offered an extraordinary and intimate perspective on the world she lived in.
Finally, Jane Hawking discussed her bestselling memoir, Travelling to Infinity, Jane and Stephen’s story, the novel that that began her incredible journey as well as introduced her new novel Silent Music, a coming-of-age story set in post-war Britain
