DED To Announce Business Excellence Awards Winners On April 2
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai will announce the winners of the 25th Business Excellence Awards at a ceremony to be held at the Arena Ballroom of Madinat Jumeirah Dubai on the 2nd of April 2019.
The Awards, which is currently in the 2018 cycle, include the Dubai Quality Global Award, Dubai Quality Award (DQA), Dubai Human Development Award (DHDA) and the Dubai Service Excellence Scheme (DSES), as well as the Emirates Business Rating Scheme (EBRS), introduced in co-operation with the UAE Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The Business Excellence Awards is part of DED’s efforts to promote quality and excellence as a catalyst for further growth and development in the business sector and contribute to the aspirations of the Government of Dubai to encourage global best practices across the emirate and the UAE to strengthen competitiveness and sustainability.
Over the past 25 years the Business Excellence Awards have brought about a qualitative leap in the excellence approach of the public and private sectors by inspiring them to provide high quality services in line with the directives of the leadership and the Government of Dubai to promote and sustain quality as a strategic advantage in doing business in the emirate.
Shaikha Ahmad Al Bishri, Director of the Business Excellence Department in DED, said: “An elite group of experts and assessors have evaluated the 2,005 applications we received for the 2018 cycle of the Business Excellence Awards against set global excellence standards and criteria. The assessors and mystery shoppers also conducted field visits to the 260 organisations nominated for the Awards.”
Al Bishri added that DED encourages businesses and organisations to consistently improve their performance by developing the award criteria for stronger competition and increased adoption of best practices in various sectors and areas. “The next stage will see further expansion and additions to make the Awards more comprehensive and strengthen competition in the Awards.”
Since its inception in 1994, the Dubai Quality Award has received the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai who has been instrumental in driving the quality movement across the private and public sectors in the emirate. DQA encourages and motivates companies and institutions to adopt a policy of excellence, provide the best services, and recognize best practices in performance excellence.
The DQA winners are honoured in four categories – the Gold Category, the Dubai Quality Award, the Dubai Quality Appreciation Award (DQAA) and the recently launched Dubai Quality Global Award (DQGA). The awards will be distributed in key sectors – government, manufacturing, finance, professional, tourism, services, trade, construction, education, healthcare, free zones, transportation, logistics, media, leisure and entertainment, real estate, retail and representative entities.
DHDA recognises the long-term commitment of the private sector to human resources development. Given in three categories – the Gold Category, the Dubai Human Development Award and the Dubai Human Development Appreciation Award (DHDAA) – the award covers the trade, manufacturing, construction, professional, services, tourism, education, healthcare, financial services, free zones, transportation, logistics, media, leisure and entertainment, real estate, retail and government sectors.
The Dubai Service Excellence Scheme is a one-of-a-kind initiative that aims to gain customer confidence and to make the experience of shopping in the UAE a pleasurable one. Participants in DSES are honoured in two main categories: the best outlet, and the best brand.
