Dubai A Hub For Healthcare Professionals This December
A series of webinars took place prior to the first edition of Healthcare Future Summit, a specialized virtual conference that’s set to take place in December this year. The webinars tackle a few of the most pressing topics in the healthcare field, and are presented by some of the most prominent doctors in the region.
One of the pressing topics addressed in the pre-event webinar that took place last week was Men’s Health. The webinar sessions were delivered by two of the most prominent specialists in the field: Dr. Farhad Janahi, Assistant Professor of Surgery at MBRU and Consultant Urological Surgeon at Mediclinic City Hospital, and Dr. Benjamin Hanson, Medical Director & Family Medicine Consultant at River International Management Consultants. The webinar sessions highlighted the current state of Men’s health, recognizing and addressing common health issues faced by males around the world, identifying potential strategies in improving men’s health, and using digital technologies to improve outcomes for chronic disease management.
Commenting on his session, Dr. Farhad Janahi said: “Men are more susceptible to certain chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular disease and specific cancers, and have a shorter life expectancy than women.”
He added: “A lot of factors cause the issues with men’s health worldwide, such as cultural and social factors, exposure to work-related illnesses or accidents, and many others. More work needs to be done to address this pressing topic and tackling the challenges faced in men’s healthcare.”
From his side, Dr. Ben Hanson commented: “The average life span of a male is 5 years less than a female. In addition, men have much higher death rates from cardiovascular disease, cancer, suicide and accidents. Moreover, it is recognized by the World Health Organization that men have less access to medical care than women. However, by using digital health technology and Artificial Intelligence, we can improve the outcomes through chronic disease management for men.”
Furthermore, another webinar is set to take place on November 19th 2020, and will feature the participation of Dr. Ramadan Alblooshi, Chief Regulatory Officer, Dubai Healthcare City- Regulatory, and Dr. Sara Al Dallal, Senior Health Service Specialist, Health Insurance Policy Development Section, DHIC.
