Dubai Annual CPI declined by 3.87% in March 2021
According to the report issued by Dubai Statistics Center (DSC), the overall annual consumer price index (CPI) declined by 3.87% in March 2021, compared to the same period in 2020, as the prices of the following sectors were decreased: the housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuel division decreased by 8.68%, declining the inflation by 3.51 points; the food and beverages division decreased by 3.97%, declining the inflation by 0.54 points; the clothing and footwear division decreased by 2.57%, declining the inflation by 0.05 points; the tobacco division decreased by 0.56%; and the health division decreased by 0.01%.
On the other hand, price index of the following sectors was increased: the transport division increased by 0.93%, raising the inflation by 0.10 points; the restaurants and hotels division increased by 0.77%, raising the inflation by 0.04 points; the miscellaneous goods and services division increased by 0.69%, raising the inflation by 0.04 points; the furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance division increased by 0.73%, raising the inflation by 0.03 points; the education division increased by 0.36%, raising the inflation by 0.03 points; and the communication division increased by 0.07%.
Whereas the prices of recreation and culture division remained at their previous levels during the comparative period.
The Monthly CPI declined by 0.02% in March 2021
The overall monthly CPI declined by 0.02% in March 2021, compared to February 2021, due to the decreased prices of the following sectors: the housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuel division decreased by 0.83%, declining the inflation by 0.32 points; the food and beverages division decreased by 1.14%, declining the inflation by 0.16 points; the miscellaneous goods and services division decreased by 1.14%, declining the inflation by 0.07 points; the restaurants and hotels division decreased by 0.12%, declining the inflation by 0.01 points; the tobacco division decreased by 0.56%; and the communication division decreased by 0.02%.
On the other hand, price index of the following sectors was increased: the transport division increased by 4.89%, raising the inflation by 0.53 points; the recreation and culture division increased by 0.84%, raising the inflation by 0.02 points; and the furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance division increased by 0.07%.
While the prices of: the clothing and footwear division; the health division; and the education division remained at their previous levels during the comparative period.
