Dubai Annual Price Index Drops by 2.80% in May 2021
The report issued by Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) states that the annual general index of consumer prices dropped by 2.80% in May 2021 compared to the same period in 2020, due to a decrease in the prices of: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels division dropped by 8.42%, which reduced the index by 3.40 points, Foods and Beverages division dropped by 3.70%, which reduced the index by 0.51 points, Recreation and culture division dropped by 0.87%, which reduced the index by 0.02 points, Tobacco division dropped by 0.55% and Health division dropped by 0.04%.
On the other hand, prices of Transport division increased by 9.33%, which pushed the index by 0.96 points, Clothing and Footwear division increased by 2.90%, which pushed the index by 0.06 points, Restaurants and Hotels division increased by 1.07%, which pushed the index by 0.05 points, Miscellaneous Goods and Services division increased by 0.35%, which pushed the index by 0.02 points, Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance division increased by 0.34%, which pushed the index by 0.01 points, Communication division increased by 0.22%, which pushed the index by 0.01 points, Education division increased by 0.14%, which pushed the index by 0.01 points.
Consumer Price Index Drops by 0.05% in May 2021
General monthly index of consumer prices dropped by 0.05% in May 2021 compared to April 2021 as a result of prices drop of: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels division by 0.46%, which reduced the index by 0.18 points, Recreation and culture division dropped by 1.77%, which reduced the index by 0.03 points, Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance division dropped by 0.11%, and Communication division dropped by 0.03%.
While prices of: Foods and Beverages division increased by 0.90%, which pushed the index by 0.12 points, Transport division increased by 0.20%, which pushed the index by 0.02 points, and Miscellaneous Goods and Services division increased by 0.32%, which pushed the index by 0.02 points.
Whereas prices of: Tobacco division, Clothing and Footwear division, Health division, Education division, and Restaurants and Hotels division shows stability during the period of comparison
