Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, hosted today the latest edition of Volunteer Emirates 2019 with the participation of 100 volunteers who helped renovate The National Charity School in Al Garhoud in Dubai. The volunteers were involved in assembling desks and chairs for the students; revitalizing spaces for music and literature; providing books, puzzles and arts and crafts supplements; as well as educational equipment for students of determination. The volunteers also helped in landscaping the garden space within the school to enhance educational environment. This edition of Volunteer Emirates, which is sponsored by DP World, is set to benefit 1,200 students.

Moreover, “Give a Ghaf” initiative donated Ghaf trees, as a symbol of the Year of Tolerance, to Al National Charity School in Al Garhoud to help inspire and empower schoolchildren towards greener and sustainable practices.

Speaking at this edition of Volunteer Emirates 2019, Abdulla Ahmed Al Shehhi, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Cares, said: “Dubai Cares’ mission is not only to enrich the learning experiences of children and young people in developing countries, but also offers a rare opportunity for members of the local community to support and empower schoolchildren from not for profit schools within the UAE. Thanks to the generosity of the volunteers and DP World, we have harnessed the incredible power of volunteering to make this school a place where children can learn and thrive. From the new school garden to an array of educational material in the library, The National Charity School now has the necessary resources to cultivate learning at the highest level, and for that, every volunteer should feel immensely proud.”
