Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture)witnessed the inauguration of the ‘Squaring the Circle’ exhibition by Emirati artist and architect Layla Juma, who belongs to the third generation of Emirati artists. The exhibition is being held at Aisha Alabbar Gallery in Al Quoz until 6 November.

The inauguration was attended by Saeed Kharbash, CEO of the Arts & Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, who commended the displayed artworks for reflecting the richness of the visual arts movement in Dubai and the UAE, stressing the importance of the Emirati visual art experience at regional and global levels.

Kharbashalso praised the efforts of Aisha Alabbar Gallery as an important platform for stimulating creativity in the emirate, stressing Dubai Culture’s commitment to supporting such efforts as part of its vision to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global centre for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent as well as the global capital of the creative economy.

Kharbash toured the exhibition and reviewed the inspiring collection of the artist’s work, which varied between paintings, sculptures and computer graphics, reflecting the relationship between art and engineering.

Through its strategic roadmap 2020-2025, Dubai Culture works to support and nurture creative talents in the emirate and enhance its cultural scene, supported by the Authority’s role as a policy maker, regulator and enabler for this sector in the emirate.
