As part of its efforts to enhance awareness on the importance of cultural industries in supplementing the creative economy and the role of the literary sector in this field, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture)is organising a virtual dialogue session titled ‘Literature and the Creative Economy,’ inviting community members, both citizens and residents, to join this rich session.

This workshop comes within the framework of the Authority’s commitment to activating the programmes and plans that keep pace with new resources that Dubai is supplying for the economy, represented by the cultural and arts sector, among other creative fields, to achieve the objectives of the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy that aims to transform the emirate into a global destination for culture and the global capital forthe creative economy.

The workshop, which targets Dubai Culture’s employees and interested society members, will be held on 29 April at 11a.m. via Zoom and will be moderated by Emirati writer Eman Al Yousuf, with the participation of Emirati scholar and writer Fahad Almamari, and Emirati writer and novelist Mohammed Al Habsi. The session will shed light on the impact of literature on soft power and the creative economy and will encourage cultural institutions to sustain the literary resources.

Based on its strategic roadmap 2020-2025 that seeks to support cultural and creative talents and enable effective participation by all society members, Dubai Culture is also working to create an economic system that would stimulate the creative industries in the emirate and establish its position as a global centre for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talents.
