Dubai Culture is holding virtual music training workshops for children. The Authority is inviting citizens, residents and visitors, ages 6 -12 years, to join this programme, which is being organised throughout March as part of the Dubai Performing Arts Program, to develop their passion for music and be creative.

Representing a cooperation between the Performing Arts Department and Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children (AJCCC), an entity of Dubai Culture, the music programme will provide a platform for developing promising musical talents through a group of specialised weekly workshops under the supervision of composer and guitarist Firas Rida from AJCCC. These workshops will be divided into three age groups: ages 6 – 8, 8 – 10, and 10 – 12. The programme will utilise singing as a means to learn about various aspects of music culture.

The interactive training workshops that aim to explore musical energies and talents will focus on a number of themes that include individual and group singing, lessons on musical instruments,Arabic music, western music, folkloric music, the most prominent musicians across the eras, music and singing, harmony, and varied musical performance.

Commenting on the objective of these workshops, Fatima Al-Jallaf, Manager of the Theatre Section and Acting Director of the Performing Arts Department at Dubai Culture, said: “When talented children are given adequate care and attention, nothing will limit their creativity, and they will be able to advance upon their artistry. Cultivating values ​​and promoting creativity and artistic culture within children have a positive impact on their personalities and future endeavours. Based on its updated strategic road map, Dubai Culture aims, through these training workshops, to discover, support, develop and nurture emerging citizens, residents, and expat talents, which helps contributes to spreading musical awareness and culture among children, integrating musical art into the Emirati culture, and establishing a generation instilled with creativity and innovation.”

Al-Jallaf added: “Through this programme, Dubai Culture aims to energise the musical movement in Dubai and establish a strong base for it by discovering talents from new generations, enabling them to become professional musical artists. This will lead to strengthening the emirate’s position as a global centre for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent.
