The Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection sector in Dubai Economy has set up an awareness platform at Dubai International Airport as part of enhancing confidence among visitors on retailing in Dubai and the UAE. The platform, which will remain at the arrival area of the airport till the 20th of September 2019, falls in line with CCCP’s strategy to protect the rights of consumers as well as traders and promote transparency across buying and selling in Dubai.

Abdulla Al Shehhi, Deputy CEO of CCCP, said: “Improving consumer awareness is one of our major goals and through the awareness platform we seek to make consumers as well as traders of different nationalities more confident on the economic environment in Dubai. It also seeks to represent the competitiveness and quality of services available to consumers in Dubai, enhance commercial transactions, and strengthen the overall economy in the emirate and the UAE.”

Dubai Economy is keen to diversify channels of communication with the public, especially visitors and residents in Dubai, and protect their rights relating to transactions made in Dubai, irrespective of whether the consumer is in the UAE or not. Initiatives such as the awareness platform enables CCCP to reach out to the largest segment of potential consumers and ensure that the principle of justice prevails across buying and selling in Dubai.

Added Al Shehhi: “The Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection team briefs passengers arriving at the airport on our role and services in regulating economic activity and in protecting the rights of consumers as well as traders. They also respond to queries from visitors and assist them in accessing our services on their smart phones from anywhere in the world.”
