The Middle East’s most electrifying car buying showcase is returning for 2019, bringing with it more than one billion dirhams worth of family cars, supercars and hypercars – plus the drones and Hyperloop technologies are set to rethink transport altogether.

“Buckle up for big surprises” is the message coming from the Dubai International Motor Show as  the biennial event gears-up to offer visitors a thrill ride into the future of mobility.

Taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre, from November 12-16th, the exhibition is promising the ultimate deep-dive into the motoring and transport industry, with era defining tech, fully immersive VR/AR and some of the rarest cars all coming together to create the most exciting five-day meet in the region’s motoring calendar.

From Asia to the United States, this year’s show will feature the world’s biggest international manufacturers showcasing their latest models including Gargash, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Ferrari, Maserati, Lincoln, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan, Mitsubishi and many more. The UAE based Ajlani Motors is all set to debut its Hypercar which is already making waves globally ahead of its launch.  The Motor Show will once again be the standout event for both petrol-heads and commuters looking to find their next ride – and to learn about where mobility is heading.

A “revolutionary” Motor Show bringing tomorrow to today

Dubai International Motor Show Director Andrew Wingrove said: “Without question, this year’s Dubai International Motor Show will be the most advanced and experience-oriented in our 30-year history.”

“Since our last edition, we’ve seen the synergy between driving, motoring and the AI-led technologies at the heart of our future living – which will all come alive in Dubai. This is a shift that has gone well beyond digital dashboard add-ons to now being the mastermind behind how our vehicles operate and even communicate on the road, with experts predicting there will be 220 million 5G-connected cars on the road by 2024. Transformation like this is forcing us to rethink the entire concept of driving and transport.”

“At this year’s Motor Show, we invite visitors to come and immerse themselves in the future of mobility where people can get up close with transformative smart car technology, the Virgin Hyperloop One, virtual reality test drives and augmented reality concept car launches all coming together at the Dubai International Motor Show.”

Fly through Dubai in a two-seater drone – then design the car of the future

In exploring the theme of ‘Future Mobility’, the Dubai International Motor Show has collaborated with vehicle design and prototype futurists Italdesign to bring two unique concepts to the show.

The first will be the Pop.Up Next VR Experience, which will take visitors on a thrilling inner-city drone flight through and above the streets of Dubai, giving a mind-blowing virtual insight into how this hyper-modern mode of transport could go on to change how we travel.

The group’s state-of-the-art 3D modelling studio will then demonstrate how – by endlessly refining their digital capabilities – Italdesign’s  team of creatives can quite literally sculpt a car  from start to finish in a 3D virtual environment, allowing unrivalled opportunities in vehicle design and alteration.

Also on show throughout the event’s five-days will be a debut up-close look inside the capsule concept for the proposed Dubai to Abu Dhabi Hyperloop – the vacuumed tube capable of firing passenger pods at speeds of up to 1,080kmph.

Powerhouse brands; global launches – including the debut reveal of the fastest electric car ever!

This year’s Motor Show will be ground zero for model launches by some of the biggest players in the automotive industry.

Included amongst those will be the debut global production model launch of the record-breaking Aspark OWL: the all-electric Japanese hypercar powered by 1,150 horsepower and capable of going from 0-100kmph in less than two seconds. The fastest electric car ever made, the OWL – currently in production in Osaka – is promising buyers a top speed of 280kmph, with 300 kilometers of range on a full charge.

Masanori Yoshida, President and CEO at Aspark, explained: “The Aspark OWL is the fastest high performance, zero-emission electric supercar ever seen. It is the first ever Japanese EV Hypercar and promises to be one of the most powerful cars ever made.

“The Middle East is going to be a major market for Aspark vehicles, so I am very happy to be unveiling the final version OWL at the Dubai International Motor Show – the largest automotive event in Middle East.”

Lebanese luxury and concept car manufacturer Zedro SAL will be attending the Motor Show to launch the brand new, 1250Hp, customizable Notorious, while HongQi – the luxury car marque owned by China’s FAW Car Company – will unveil no less than six new models.

Thierry Sabbagh is Managing Director at Nissan Middle East. He said: “The Dubai International Motor Show is one of the most prominent automotive events across the Middle East and North Africa that gathers a crowd of passionate motoring enthusiasts and industry specialists every time.

“Nissan is thrilled to be participating in the show’s 15th edition and is looking forward to giving visitors a glimpse of the brand’s global automotive innovations that we have brought to the region to help move everyone to a safe, sustainable, and exciting world.”

Dh500m worth of privately owned hypercars gathered at motor show, plus live drifting, go-karting and celebrities

As well as discovering, exploring and buying brand new cars, the Dubai International Motor Show is equally all about delivering an experience-packed day out for guests of all ages and interests.

Group 63 – a club for AMG owners in Dubai – will curate the show’s Dh500 million Elite Club, where more than 20 of the most stunning hypercars found anywhere in the world will sit on display, including a unique, limited edition Bugatti Veyron, a US$10 million Lamborghini Veneno and a Gumpart Apollo S.

Elsewhere, there will be high-speed go-karting, a full test drive area for buyers keen to try out cars they have eyed-up at the show, and live drifting by some of the best in the business. A host of secret motoring celebrities and influencers will also be on hand to share their tips and expertise on everything from car modification to racing.

The only place to win $10k of upgrades – and even a vintage VW Beetle!

In an event first, the Motor Show’s debut Drive In, Tune Out feature will give no less than 25 local drivers the chance to win up to $10,000 of free upgrades to their car – fitted right there and then at the show, with expert mechanics and customizers souping-up five cars a day.

Looking for something a bit different? Then the Motor Show’s Classic Car Auction demands a date in your diary. Held over three themed days, the auction will see many timeless cars change hands, and will feature a one-off raffle…the winner of which will drive off in a 1974 VW Beetle!

In organising an event for everyone, the show will also feature a lounge by the Arabian Gazelles – the region’s first ladies-only supercar club –  showcasing their powerful machines at a street meet, plus a busy schedule of kids fun, including an augmented reality experience and a competition to draw the “Car of the Future”.

Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice President, Exhibitions & Events Management, Dubai World Trade Centre, said: “The 15th Dubai International Motor Show will once again be the platform that is at the forefront of the Middle East’s automotive transformation. This year attendees will witness future driving experiences and mobility technology that is reimagining the global automotive industry. With the motoring industry in the midst of major technology disruption, Dubai is the city where the Middle East will see this come to life.”
